I’ve been working (on deadline, of course) on a Children’s Theater adaptation of “Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland” all week long. I came up with this poem while writing the Mad Tea Party scene. It just popped into my head.
Since I didn’t want to put my own nonsense verse into “Wonderland,” I decided to use it here instead, and Arlecchino was a natural choice for it. Especially since Flavio is the only emo kid in my cast at the moment.
And for you “Fumetto dell’Arte” haters (and I know you’re out there, I read my E-Mail) you have the people who complained about the Sunday re-runs to blame.
Thanks for the explanation, Pab. It’s divinely inspired and a delight. To all the “Fumetto dell’Arte” haters out there, make some lemonade out of your lemons. Or else, take Pab’s advice and bounce about going FWEEP, FWEEP, FWEEP! I’m sure it’ll do wonders for your disposition. If not, it’d do wonders for mine to watch you at it! LOL, ROTF!
Careful, Pab, you’re running close to the edge and The Knight Who Says EKKE Ekke ekke p!tang zoo boing (unintelligible muttering) might get after you for copyright infringement.
“Fweep” is actually a little bit of an inside joke. My college roommate, Gerard, had the absolutely least appropriate sense of humor. “Fweep fweep fweep” was part of his impersonation of Steven Hawking.
This is the same person who, while watching footage of the surrender of Iraqi prisoners on CNN during Gulf War I in our dorm room (with six of our friends there) started bouncing up and down and clapping, saying “DEATH MARCH! DEATH MARCH!” in a gleeful tone.

Wow. I usually just crouch down and sing “Cabbages is beautiful” like when I was in high school. Me and my best bud were crazy!

I don’t know why, but this one has me rolling! It’s the bizarre whimsy of it, I guess.
