Just because Alice didn’t notice Ernesto, doesn’t mean he wasn’t there. Often, I say something and my wife doesn’t hear it (not listening, even though she claims to be always listening), so I think to myself, just because you didn’t hear me, doesn’t mean I didn’t speak!

I recall and episode where Viola D’More told Petey that she saw/knew Ernesto too (Ernesto was just walking away from Petey)- so, apparently, he isn’t imaginary. Unless, they are both having the same visual hallucination simultaneously.

I have many imaginary friends, mostly very funny and well educated ones. They’re always asking me for money.

And that’s why Ernesto becomes(?) a supervillain in his almost extinct volcano, being tired of people calling him imaginary he sets out to finally be SEEN!

Viola, the third part of the love triangle, has acknowledged Ernesto’s existence.
