Barfly actually sounds like a fun strip to read…

At least when we kept accounts and records on paper, an IT failure couldn’t completely shut down a business or a bank. Landline phones were much less vulnerable to communications failures. Sometimes I worry about the way we’ve abandoned keeping hard-copy backups and landline connections.

For some reason the 2nd panel kind of reminds me of the comic “Shoe”. Think it’s because Jay reminds me a lot of Cosmo with that jacket.

I miss Duffy.

I’d like to see a comic about a dive bar. I think more Bukowski or Ironweed than Cheers. In the ’70s I worked in a pizza parlor close to 3 SRO hotels.

I have never really been able to forgive the almost total erasure of any romantic aspect that has taken place during this period.
