Once when my brother and I were walking to school when we were little, I found a $5.00 bill. I was so excited that I showed him but he took it and later told our parents that he had found it so it was his. I fully expected my mother to just hand it to him but for once she was fair and had us split it. Since she couldn’t know which of us had found it that was the only thing she could do. But I sorta wish I’d just stuffed it in my pocket and never told anyone about it.
Sergio, which of your children has the part time job and is more likely to earn that much on their own? I will note here there was an arc where Gracie had a business venture that went south, but maybe she doing something else now.
When we were in Germany we had gone to the bank and pulled out money. I was pregnant with my first and hadn’t bought maternity wear yet. That day I was wearing a pair of my husband’s pants. Unlike my jeans, those were loose on me. I did not realize how loose until we got back to the apartment and I realized I had lost the $100 in the cab! I was in tears for days. Normally I would have put it in my purse, but I have no idea why I didn’t that day. I guess pregnancy fog.
Our rule was, no haggling or arguing: if Mom found money in the laundry it went into the take-the-family-out-for-ice-cream funds. One time my 18 year old had done an overnight babysitting gig. The next day, I lifted the washer lid to see $150 floating on the top. (Might have been more, it was a quick glance.) Closed the lid, walked in the other room where the four kids were, and said casually, I see something in the washing machine and I’m thinking ice cream. …You never saw a kid startle and then run so fast.

Like she would have $50? Dad should have just kept it himself since obviously neither of the kids was missing it.

The money belongs to Tia when she finds it.

If she is smart enough to be able to tutor high school algebra she should be able to read Don Quixote in Spanish by now.
