I brought my Texas born and raised toddler to visit my Mom in North Ga. Christmas eve morning to took him outside because I saw the least little nothing of snow flurries you had ever seen, but he looked up held his hands out with gleaming eyes. " snow Momma is snow. Issa Chrissmahs miracle" with the lil kid speech. My adult eyes saw snow that wouldn’t stick and cause problems with the travel I had planned, but through him I saw and felt the wonder again. I called my Mom out so she could participate. She fussed that I was outside barefoot then paused when she saw his joy.
It’s nice to see Mama make a rare appearance, but I though she died much earlier in Gracie’s life; at the age shown in this strip, Gracie should have many memories of her mother.
Baldo is suppose to be 16, he was 10 when his mother was killed, so if Gracie was 2/3 at the time she would be 8/9 today. In today’s comic she appears to be 6/8 so she would be 13/14 today.
Welcome to the 21st century. During the Covid-19 pandemic students were given chrome book computers. Students and teachers conducted school classes remotely from their homes. Students did their homework asynchronously.
A minority view here: I think that is Gracie, not Rosa, telling the story of the snow to her daughter. I think Baldo is the one pulling the sled in panel 2.

You need school to learn “gift” is a noun, the verb is “give.” You give a gift.

What? Gracie doesn’t want to go to school?

What a nice flashback. I just wish we knew who she was flashbacking too. Us? Her family? Just simple introspection?
Save the snow days for AFTER the New Year, Gracie! You’ll appreciate them more.

Outstanding!…I can relate…moving from SoCal to northern Utah at 6…The first snowfall was miraculous.Later on, however…Still…

In panel #2 Baldo should wear a coat and not just his trademark shirt.

I like seeing the mommy here. She adds warmth to the magic.
