If Young Queen Vic mobilizes the nascent Empire and kicks Martian thorax, I’m all for it.

Pab, thanks for the link to the “Why it sucks” site. Interesting and thought-provoking, but his ideas about time travel are not quite right. The classic Poul Anderson “Time Patrol” approach is that if you are in the past when your future history changes, you stay, because fundamentally the universe is chaos anyhow – you are simply there, with your universe wiped out. It’s not about who is changing the universe (though that is ingenious) - Alfie Bester did that one in “The Man Who Murdered Mohammed.” I agree with the point that Abrams scrambled the history unnecessarily, but it was still a ripping good movie, approaching Wrath of Khan levels (which was a clear and direct inspiration).

I have the sound of the heat ray being fired in the 1953 movie running through my head now. Classic sound effect, that one.

LOL!! Keep up the good work, at least until J.J. time travels back to before you started this storyline.
