Drop him inside your teacher’s blouse, she’s bound to go the teacher’s lounge sooner or later.

Lots of spiders indoors are adapted to living indoors. No idea how you tell the difference. It’s probably better off in the teacher’s lounge.

My classroom had windows just like those that opened outward and without screens. One day a spider got in and was crawling along the shelf that ran just under the windows. The kids all ran away from it and were expecting me to kill it. Instead, I picked up the cup holding my pencils, emptied it, placed it over the spider, slid an index card under the cup, carried it to the window and dumped the spider into the bushes under the window.

A few weeks later, I heard screams and squeals and muffled shouting followed by what sounded like a scuffle in the lobby, which was right next to my room. Then I heard somebody shout, “Go get Miss E. She’ll know what to do.” A breathless 3rd grader came running into my room shouting, “They’re trying to kill a spider.”

I got my cup and file card and headed to the lobby where I saw several girls hiding behind some 5th grade boys who were trying to get at the spider while a group of of my 3rd grade reading center kids were trying to block the bigger boys. I used my best teacher voice to get them to stop. The girls were pointing near the corner shouting, “Stomp it!" “Squish it.” "Make it go away.” I saw a small, whitish spider crawling along the edge of the baseboard trying to find a crack in which to disappear. I used the cup and index card to trap it and carry it to safety. From then on, I became the unofficial spider Über ride to safety.

in my house, we still do, but sadly, the spiders don’t tell us where they live, so we just bring them outside.
