RIP, Jimmy Carter. May you and Rosalynn be together again in Heaven. And at least, you’re spared the ordeal of another four years of the Orange Baboon—that is, if he lasts that long!
Jimmy Carter did more post Presidency than most people do in a lifetime. Only President to receive a Nobel Peace prize for accomplishments post term. The Carter Center has lead to the elimination of diseases in Africa, overseen elections, and so much more. (River Blindness parasite). Author, artist, humanitarian, husband, father, nuclear Submarine commander, farmer, Sunday School teacher, oh and a public servant in the trueist sense – a life well lived – and the world is richer for it.
I just noticed that The Philadelphia Inquirer, generally a liberal leaning newspaper, pulled yesterday’s Sunday anti-orange buffoon Doonesbury strip from its comic section.
The 1980 election was all about an un-gifted actor, a reactionary who hated hippies, who cooked the election by manipulating hostage release. If not for consevative lies and dishonesty, Carter would have won a second term. What a different world we’d be in had Jimmy won! Reagan’s advocates insisted Carter was irrelevant in a world fueled by greed and corruption. In truth, his relevance is the greater for it.
