Bookshop dot org [trying to get around the algorithm] lets you buy books directly from local booksellers, without giving money to Amazon.
I’m sure other people have similar suggestions.
I always check local first. Often get it less expensive than online due to delivery charges and can get it sooner too.
AbeBooks is a favorite for used books, tons of stores connected. I was shocked to see last time I visited that it said “An Amazon Company!” :)
Didn’t they say the same things about Department Stores and Supermarkets when they first appeared? :)
maybe he could try growing his own cardboard boxes…
“That article” is completely stupid. The South was poor. States and cities built their own infrastructure.
