Me and my sister bought and helped build a model of the space 1999 shuttle for our kid brother. We were very pleased with the result. “This is EXACTLY like in the show!” And then… “It IS exactly like in the show…”
When I was in college we kept a paper taped up behind the TV to keep a count of how many Eagles they blew up. I don’t remember the final count, but I remember it was pretty impressive. I figured the moon must be hollow and filled with them.
As a young waif, I to wanted to be an astronaut. Had my gi joe with space capsule and took adventures through out the house. In an attempt to experience lift off, I climbed into our dryer and had my brother turn it on. Never did that one again.

I re-watched the entire series during the pandemic, having not watched it since the 1970s.
The first season still holds up really well (and “Death’s Other Dominion” was a pretty good episode).
But the second season .. does .. not.

In 1987 there was a book “The Best and Worst ofSci-Fi TV.” “Space 1999” came in as the worst.
