Some are willfully ignorant enough to think the past four years have not been good enough.
Buckle up everybody!! Hold onto your hats!! The next four years are going to be a screamingly and very difficult rough ride for the USA. Thanks to the unobservant, racist, misogynistic voters who could not bring themselves to vote for an exceedingly qualified woman.
I recommend that all of us on the right and the left read one of the following books by Robert Reich: Saving Capitalism and/or The System. While he served as Labor Secretary in a Democratic administration, I find his writing to be fairly neutral. After all my deep dives into several books, I found that he explains how the system really works in a easy to understand summary manner. He also has a substack where he explains things in a very understandable way. The things he explains I saw happening to my small town in upstate New York and in the semiconductor industry in the Bay Area (aka Silicon Valley which is quite a misnomer these days). We should all be working together to fix the system instead of fighting with each other over issues made up by the oligarchy to divide us.
Congress has the sole power to determine how the agencies of the federal government are created and organized. Congress did not authorize the “Department of Governmental Efficiency”. In a stroke of massive irony, this so-called DOGE will be INefficiently headed by not one “buck stops here” Cabinet-level secretary but two unelected, unappointed, easily distracted billionaire autocrats (Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy), whose massive egos and self-assured overconfidence at always getting their own ways is practically a gold-plated guarantee of future feuds and deadlocks.
Apparently these experience-free egocentrists have taken it as their remit to dismantle the agencies that actually elected officials have, over the course of centuries, established to meet the needs of American citizens. And to do so as quickly as possible, using meat cleavers instead of scalpels. Their motto appears to be “Act in haste, repent at leisure — but hey, why repent at all?”.
If truth in advertising applied to the incoming administration, this extra-legal assault force would be more accurately named the “Department of Destroying Governmental Efficiency” (DODGE).
For a little cross-promotion here on GoComics, I encourage everyone to look at today’s entries by Mike Luckovich and Rob Rogers. Both feature appreciations of the late Jimmy Carter. I always admired him as a guy who absolutely had his priorities straight. Once, when asked in an interview what he considered to be his most outstanding accomplishment, being elected President or winning the Nobel Peace Prize, he answered “Having Rosalyn agree to marry me.”

If Traitor Trump’s brain is the size of an amoeba, the brains of the members of his cult are the size of the things amoebas eat!
