Actual scientists (abetted by science-fiction authors who’ve spent imaginative time on such things) have tried to figure out how we’d communicate with an actual alien species that may rely on a different part of the electromagnetic spectrum for vision or a different frequency range for hearing (or even magnetism or electrical charges). We can be positive that we’d have no clue about facial expressions (if they even have faces) or body language. The consensus is that the one universal commonality of any race able to manage interstellar contact would be integers, and everything else would have to build upon that.
