At first I thought the winks in panel 2 indicated that they both knew that was the wrong tool and they were pranking Gene, but panel 4 did not back that up.

My dad said he would send me for a 1/2 inch socket and I would come back a half hour later with a screwdriver. I knew what a socket was, I just had no attention span.
