It is not unusual to see gators in and around the water holes at golf courses in many parts of Florida.
I used to know a diver who made his living retrieving golf balls from water hazards at golf resorts in Miami/Dade County. He said that the only time you had to be especially careful with the gators was when it was mating season and the bulls became more aggressive. Also, you had to be wary with females who were guarding their nests.

Used to drive by a golf course in Florida, where, every so often, you’d see an alligator sunning himself on the course.
