I saw “Jaws” at a sneak preview about two weeks before the official release. Most of the audience was in hysterics throughout the film. I don’t think that was the reaction Spielberg was going for.

I have a recipe for a shark stew. My thought was to have people over, watch “Jaws”, then get our revenge by eating the stew.
No, I never did, and never made the stew. I am well aware that sharks are an endangered species and only eat seafood that was sustainably wild caught.
Humanity is far more threatening to sharks than vice versa. But phobias aren’t rational. Just look at what needlephobes are doing to health care.
I’m pretty sure that a science nerd like Dean would be familiar with the true story that inspired “Jaws”—the New Jersey shark attacks of 1916.

Most sharks are salt water only. There are a very few true fresh water only sharks.
The bull shark is aggressive, and can live in salt water and fresh water. They have been found up the Mississippi River as far as Illinois.
