It is being worked on…just a lot to do. If you look up The Ocean Cleanup it can provide some hope. “In 2024, The Ocean Cleanup made significant progress toward ridding the world’s oceans of plastic. From scaling up our work in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP) to expanding river cleanup efforts globally, every milestone brought us closer to solving this critical environmental challenge.” This year, The Ocean Cleanup removed 11.5 million kilos of trash from oceans and rivers. This total surpasses the amount collected in all previous years combined.
Let’s start at home…let’s take care of our own plastic instead of shipping it overseas in big containers. And then they do whatever to it, including just tossing it in the oceans. It seems no matter what we do, it’s gonna be a pain. Everything comes in plastic! All your groceries, plastic! Automobile liquids, plastic! Clothing, a form of plastic! We can’t just stop using it, so we have to find a better way of disposing of it. Did you know only 9% actually gets recycled? A whopping 49% goes into landfills? We think we can recycle it, but truthfully, it can’t be! You might put plastic in a recycle bin, but it gets sorted into what can actually be recycled, and away it goes into a landfill! We can go back to using paper, glass, and aluminum for some things, since they are better at recycling, but then others become unhappy over environmental issues…sigh. It’s a no win situation.
I’m doing my part by sewing cloth bags to give, sell and use myself. Not too long ago no matter how hard I tried I could not convince cashier’s to let me use my own bag. Sad that it has to get to this before people will listen.
People, get with the times – big plastic pollution is so last decade. Today it’s all about MICRO PLASTICS – it’s everywhere, it’s in the air, in the dirt, in your food, in YOUR BLOOD and even in your SEMEN (assuming you have such fluid). If we’re going to PANIC, lets make sure we’re panicing over the cool new MICRO PLASTICS. And don’t worry, the global greedy guts of capitalistic humans worldwide is already working on the next big (or should we small) thing – NANOPLASTICS – coming soon to Cerebral Fluids EVERYWHERE.
Yesterday a car came speeding down the street, passenger opened their window and threw a bag of Chick Filet trash on the street. Today doing my trash walk (my weekly pick up my neighborhood) I went one block and got 2 bags of trash. I didn’t even get to the trash that was tossed in front of me yesterday.

The Trump Administration is actively working to bring more plastic waste to the oceans. That’s what you mean by working on it, right?

We’ll get rid of the plastic once someone figures out how to make money off of it.

Not sure I understand this strip, but I love that Chip’s sea creatures don’t like plastic pollution any more than we do.
