Now try “buy one, get one free”.

Yet, the the trash in front of my neighbor’s house marked as “free” has been there for a week and a half.

The word “FREE” creates a need where there isn’t one!

Wrap it in Xmas wrapping paper and leave it on your door-step or back seat of your car. It’ll magically disappear…

A couple months ago I put an old bedroom nightstand at the curb in front of my house and put a “free” sign on it. About 3 days later I got a letter from our town’s Code Enforcement office telling me I had to move it or risk getting a fine. I don’t even live in an HOA area- it was most likely one of my neighbors who called the city and complained. By then, though, someone had already hauled off the thing.

Next, we whitewash the fence.

Mark something at the curb as free and people will leave it. Put a $20 sign on it and someone will steal it.

Went to an arts and crafts fair before the plague and mentioned to several wood workers, carvers and lathe craftsmen about a then recently cut down white walnut tree and several older specimens of purple heart cedar free for the taking. Nothing was taken.
