Today a movie about two old pals enjoying each other’s company on a riverbank with one showing the other his salmon would be all soft focus and artsy artsy and R rated and win an Academy Award. Maybe call it Brokeback Riverbank. If you catch The Count’s drift and The Count thinks you do.

Catch fish? That’d be too much work.

Andy and Chalkie always catch something – a snoot full.

Most of the classics involving fishing had Andy alone with his thoughts and beers. I can’t remember offhand any with Chalkie there.

It’s called “fishing”, not “catching” for a reason.

Bolderdash. Andy fishes for some unlucky and unaware chap to listen to as long as the pints are coming and he doesn’t need fishing gear to reel them in. He’s head and shoulders above the rest in this category. ;-p

Gone Fishing, with Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer, with a dog! Such a gentle, funny and surprisingly deep series.

Don’t be upset Andy. They send a diver with a big net to catch a salmon and put it on the hook.

In one classic comic, Andy, after an unsuccessful day of fishing, asks a grocer for a trout. the grocer says he’s out of trout, but offers him a chicken leg instead. Andy declines, thinking he’d look ridiculous saying he caught a chicken leg.
