It’s almost a pity that fist-bumping isn’t legal, as, back in the “Old West,” a handshake was a binding contract, in cattle sales, and other deals. A man would be taken at his word, and that’s why being called a “liar,” was grounds for being shot.
I sold a rental I owned with a handshake. We both showed up at an escrow office and they were baffled. The escrow officer wrote a simple statement with price etc and we both signed.
I’ve sold four homes without agents. Agents simply want the deal to close. I argued with my agent on the last house. She insisted I sell at the first offered price. I refused. She made a scene. After a month the buyer nearly met my price (20%, 20%! higher than his original low-ball offer). Then I asked her to take a lesser commission to close the deal or I walk. She renegotiated and got my price. The buyer was a rich president of a Chinese company and he paid cash! A good Party Member no doubt…..
I changed the passcode on the home burglar alarm to 10-01-49. I wonder if he noticed.
