Oh my gosh Melissa, that happened to me! I too was quite shy and new. My new teacher gave me a list of the other students names so I could do valentines. We had white paper bags with our name in a red heart taped to the blackboard. A girl came over took my cars and said she would pass them out. As I stood there not knowing what to do a boy came over and gave me his Valentines to pass out. This was in first grade. I am now 70 years old and when February rolls around I always remember and cherish the kindness of that boy.
Kitty Lolo looks like she is in her element. Congrats on finding something you love and are able to make a living at it. And although it is a few days away, Happy Valentineâs Day to you and Patch.
I remember make it yourself Valentine kits. They contained construction paper in shades of red and pink, paper doilies, punch out designs and verses you could glue on or blank pages where you could write your own verses. The hand made Valentines went to friends, family, and favorite teachers. The little manufactured cards with the too small for the post office envelopes went to the other kids in the class because teacher said you had to give a card to everybody or nobody! Then I remember decorating shoe boxes with the leftover premade cards and do it yourself kit pieces to serve as our in class âmailboxes.â When my mom was the âroom motherâ she would bring in her homemade ice box sugar cookies that sheâd cut out with heart shaped cookie cutters, iced with home made frosting into which sheâd pressed those little candy hearts with sayings on them.
I remember getting Valentines cards and passing them out in grade school. I wasnât talented enough back then to create my own. But over the last 20 yrs I have made birthday cards and Christmas money holders with wrapping paper homemade envelopes fir family and friends. I love shopping for stickers and then begin creating!!

Good for you! We had to buy boxed cards & you had to give everybody a card. And the teachers watched everybody to make sure you did.
