It’s more important to have won’t power than it is to have will power.

For me losing weight was the easy part. Keeping it off? Now that’s the challenge.

Here lies the body of Mary Meek. Her will was strong; but her won’t was weak.

It took me 10 years to quit smoking tobacco. I finally decided that I didn’t want to go through withdrawal again.

I’m lucky to be blessed with good genes from my mother such that I don’t put on too much weight, and got past the “fat boy” stage by the time I was a teenager. My mother was always concerned that she might be getting overweight, but she clearly never had that problem, and was very critical of girls and women who did have weight issues (I remember my dad complaining to her about “You and your d*** skinny women!”). If I want to lose weight, I just have to seriously get it in my mind that I want to do that, i.e., it’s much more of a mental thing than just eating less. Still, much better than the fellow I knew who said he successfully lost weight but had to feel hungry for a year!

Donuts are filthy, nasty, disgusting things, and aren’t FIT to put in your mouth. (Four years. My mantra for FOUR years! For the record, donuts are pastries with holes in the middle of them. No hole? Not a donut!)
