I believe “waitress”, the feminized version of “waiter”, is no longer used.

Coming from an IT background myself, I’ve got to agree with the kid. But then again, we may be moving toward a world where someday all service will indeed be provided by computerized robot “servers.” If that eliminates the expectation of tipping, I’m all for it!!!
