we are ALL doomed at some point, Shelby. It’s like constipation: Once comes the pass, it’s spass (spass, Spaß: Fun)

That’s why I volunteer at my local library. It is more enjoyable to work when you don’t really need to and you can walk away from anytime you want (just be aware some places may try to load you up with too many responsibilities).

I guess it’s hard to be happy when you don’t like your job.

You’ll learn in time Shelley. Fun doesn’t always come to you. You gotta find it.

I’ve been retired 14 years. Since I decided to change my duty belt at the age of 50, I realized quickly that I needed to keep busy. Since that my retirement I’ve held 11 different part time jobs in a corporate setting in retail. My encounter with corporate honchos didn’t go as the honchos planned. When I stated that I work because I want to and not because I have to, their expressions changed.

Having been retired for the last time on May 10th of 2024, it definitely was the best right up to the point that they ticked me off. I went home that night and the next morning I sent an email saying, “I quit.” Previously, when the administrator came by to send help home, I would always volunteer to leave and let the Director of Nurses stay instead of me and they always turned me down. The DON is the one who ticked me off the last night I was there, so I told them that she could work my shifts.

Happiness makes time fly by; doom makes it drag on. So if you want a long life, er, no, I’ll take happiness.

I’m about to hit the 10th anniversary of retirement. Sometimes the jobs where people shop for others for pick-up look pretty good, but no… I certainly don’t want to go sit behind a desk again, even though I loved the work I did.
