Display the kitty carrier with the door open days in advance so the cat can get used to it. Vet day, no cat. Rearrange the furniture in three rooms before the cat is found. Discover the cat has four feet all of which can hang onto a corner of the carrier. Finally get cat to vet’s where the pretty assistant says, :Nice kitty, get in the box.” Do I kill the cat or myself?
I’d never seen this use of the word “stave” before. My Amer. Heritage Dict. 4th Ed. gives definition 5 as “A set of verses; a stanza”. I didn’t know Mark Tatulli was so literary.
I feed my cat in the carrier. Serves two purposes. The cat associates the carrier with food and he gives me no problem going into it for the vet trip. Also it eliminates dry cat food getting scattered all over the floor.
Looks like Tom wins the pool. Like the treat trick, with reverse psychology… Maybe tomorrow. Today’s shot.
(Remember, cats mostly know Now, and maybe a little Past - especially who not to trust. They’re mostly not time-binders.)
Had a Big Red once who walked through the oil-change pan, and switched his tail all the way across the workbench in annoyance. Wrapped him in a towel with just his head out, got the kitchen sink full of comfy-warm soapy water, and managed to get him clean with lots of petting, and no Band-Aids at all, and a warmed towel dry-off rubdown after. He seemed to appreciate it, and was willing to talk to me later.

Good one, Cybil.

Cybil: 2, Lio: 0. This game is not going well for the fans of Lio here today, Stan!
Oh, right you are, Ollie!

Cats are all about cats. If the animal kingdom were politics, the cats would be France.

Cats are certainly not stupid creatures - and Cybil is pretty smart for a cat!

I just found Lio on this site. I can sooo relate to yesterdays AND I can just see my 5 cats thinking today’s strip when it’s Vet time.

Dang….I think Lio needs to be more devious with this cat. Might have to threaten Cybil with a move to a political comic strip.
Better yet a Heathcliff vs. Cybil MMA bout; Cybil loses and it’s straight to the vet from now on.

Let’s hope Lio doesn’t get neutered.

I’ve tried to bathe a few cats before when the poor things were infested with fleas. I can see Lio’s situation happening easily!

Loving the use of “stave.” A fine word that needs a good airing.

Yeah, I’ve had days like that.
Lewreader, the cat gets in the carrier at the vet’s because she knows it means she’s going home.
