Huey: Let's see, gotta make sure I got everything for school. I have "The Isis Papers" by Dr. Welsing, I've got my "autobiography of Angela Davis," I've got my "Wretched of the Earth"... I've got "Behold a Pale Horse," I've got "How whitey done messed everything up," I've got my new copy of "Every president lies to black folks." It just seems like I'm forgetting something... Oh well, probably wasn't important anyway.

Yeah, Huey, that fat volume was just the stuff written by the ‘winners’. Now that Howard Zinn 1922-2010 is gone, you can still find A People’s History of the United States, maybe even at the library.

I wonder if they allow those books in Texas?

As a Texan I am afraid they would probably have a coronary if they even saw one of Huey’s books. I’m surprised they are not banned in the general bookstores. Oh-oh. I hope I didn’t just give Rick Perry and AG Abbot an idea!

Regarding that last book he listed: It just hasn’t occurred to a lot of people that, while true, that doesn’t make black people special – every President lies to everybody, sooner or later, so black people by definition must be included in the lied-to.

Obama lies to black folks also ? I’m stunned even shocked but would be even more so if we ever had a President that never lies regardless of party labels

The only way we could be sure that a politician was not lying was if they stopped speaking

Obama is the one president I can be pretty close to certain would not tell white folks one thing and black folks another.
Who lies and who doesn’t is a separate issue. And it’s one on which I’m never going to be pretty close to certain, unfortunately, although it was unforgettable to get the proof on the nightly news (White House tapes) during the Nixon administration.
This story arc with Huey getting disillusioned about the truth being taught at school (or not) was a classic. I’m eager for it.
