Morning (or evening,) Carmy - guess we know what Wink needs.
Congrats JFri It was a good game.
I’ll try to think of something for breakfast- unless someone beats me to it.
Carmy, he started telling me all about how the Wings were going to win early in the play offs & I predicted Penguins against Wings, Penguins winning it all. Marion Hossa who played major junior near my town played for Penguins last year and lost to the Wings so he bailed on them to play for the Wings. While I like Marion, I did NOT like his disloyalty!
Poor Wink, I would bet that docT always has a supply so that never happens to him. Though it almost sounds like where I work, people use something up and don’t bother to let anyone know they need to order more.
Morning, tribe! Sounds like Wink has gotten addicted to doctortoon’s coffee. It is one of my pet peeves - someone opening the last package and not marking it on the shopping list. (I figure it is less confusing to ask that they mark the list when they OPEN the last, instead of trying to figure out how low can it get before it qualifies. That also gives me time to go to the store before it becomes an emergency.)
Akenta, I know what you mean about using things up in the office and not telling anyone! I order our office supplies and then everyone looks at me when we run out of something, LIKE COFFEE,, “Did you order such and such? We’re out of it!” Well, duh, that’s why I have a list taped to the supply cupboard with a pen attached!
Hello Tribe. Just brought some Krispy Creams by for the breakfast/brunch. Going to the movies today with my spouse. Saw Up week before last, highly recommended. This time it’s The Taking of Phelm 1-2-3 Really odd, I’m watching John T. in Michael right now, and gonna see him 10+ years later on the big screen, etc. I’ve also seen the original movie as well.
Stormy’s fleas are better, still not totally gone but a vast improvement. It’s going to be hard to get them dead in this hot, human weather, but come winter we don’t use the heater much and that may do them in.
Have a blessed day everyone! If you are sick, may you recover, and if you are not sick may you stay that way!
You who showed up for a party last night, that’s okay, we had a great time. But actually, the party is tonight. Tonight I will be prepared. But, the good thing about living on the lake is to just be spontaneous.
Here’s a cuppa for ya, Wink. Wouldn’t want you to lose your whole weekend!
Happy weekend my fellow yappy nuts! Glad to see things don’t change even when I’m not able to get under BT as often as I’d like. I’ll be in & out today so will drop in when I can.
I’ll share our sun & 80º’s weather for those who would enjoy them. I have mint tea (iced or hot), rosemary citrus lemonade, and acacia/cranberry punch for a mid-day pick-me-up.
DocT - Hope you saw my post from last night. Wouldn’t want the sun to cause any more damage!
Coffee I need Coffee.DocT You didn’t finish it did you?
Oh, and Krispy Kremes? Yummmm.. Thanks Quaby. Haven’t had any since they took them out of Western Canada. Don’t know if they are still down east. Shika do you know?
Donuts, mmm. I like cake donuts the way my mother made them. Really crispy on the outside and soft inside. To many store donuts are soft all the way trough.
Quaby I’ll take some donuts! Use MORE bay leaves. Crush them up & sprinkle EVERYWHERE! You can vacuum them up later. Johnny it was a great series; 7 games with a close 2-1 final score. They can’t win EVERY year!
Thanks for the hugs Dry!
I have a small dry-erase board hanging in my kitchen. We leave a space on there to write a shopping list. It helps a lot.
It also has a space for dinner ideas and that is very handy too.
Sorry I missed you Doc, love the kitty avatar. ;)
Slow day here I see, evrybody must be out enjoying the beautiful weather! I’ve been working outside, came in for a break because it’s so hot! And to see who was getting into trouble!
What’s going on here? There were only 11 posts when I was on before. I go away for a few hours and there’s two pages when I come back. How am I supposed to keep up?
I don’t really mind. It’s always nice to spend time with friends.
I find myself in need of a large withdrawl from the bank of energy and faith. My husband was just laid off and it is a bit rough. Sorry, I don’t want to drag everyones day down.
serena, I am sorry and I hope everything will turn around very soon. I’m sending in a deposit for you also.
No dragging down going on here, we’re your friends.
I’ve got 6 patios or decks and a dock, so remember to put on sunblock. I have greek marinated Lamb steaks to bbq plus the pizza that I was telling you about yesterday. Bring an appetite.
There is a great little cafe in Astoria JFri. I am a meat eater and this is seafood and vegetarian, but the Columbian Deli uses chilis and spices in a way that make their breakfasts wonderful. I have only been there for breakfast so I can’t speak of their other offerings.
Just popped in to say that *I AM NOT ADDICTED TO THIS SITE.” I just had to stay away to do some work because once I say “HI” here, I can’t get away. But, “I am NOT addicted!!”
I’m in for the party- just have a call to make, which may be long- but then I’m READY TO PARTY! Save a spot for me someone? I’ll look at these posts to see what’s going on too. I did see Serena’s post, so I’m contributing to the “Kitty”.
Yes Dry, we have six areas to sit comfortably outdoors. Two have tables with umbrellas. We are actually thinking of adding another deck for out of the wind spring sitting. On a lake, we get wind almost every sunny day. In the spring it can be cold, so we might build a small deck, just big enough for a couple of chairs and a small table where we can enjoy morning coffee in April and May. In the summer the breeze is nice.
If you or the pirate want rum and coke JFri, just bring the coke. I have Bacardi Light, Myers and a bottle of Ron Rio Amber that just appeared in my liquor cabinet one day. I wish all my liquor what just appear in my cabinet. Instead, it disappears.
Dry - My system was created to enjoy almost every alcoholic beverage, with the exception of Canadian Ryes. So yes, I can put a dent in my stash. But I prefer having help putting that dent in the contents.
You must have a REALLY nice home! I envy you! We moved here when we first looked into buying a home, rent to own we did. It’s a nice house, but as the kids got bigger, the house got samller, and now it’s perfect for a retirement home when the kids are gone, but I always had a fantasy dream of my ideal house, guess I should just be thankful for what I have! At least my home is comfortable and its mine!
Dry - Here is your mojito. Our house is nice, we need a new kitchen and a new master bathroom. Our living room is a great room with two story floor to ceiling windows looking out at the lake. Our outside is stellar. My wife is a master gardener and has made our yard seem like a park. Our main lawn is a regulation size croquet court. My wife has lived here for close to 20 years. I have only been here for about 4. I have been instrumental in some of the decks and patio areas so the house has begun to feel like a part of me as well. We live on a dead end road, with nice neighbors, yet have plenty of privacy. It is a good place to be.
Dry- We all have our fantasy house. It is tough to get, unless you have lots of money. My house is not my fantasy house, but my yard is. Only in my fantasy, somebody else is taking care of the yard. LOL
Dry - To be honest, my yard is my wife’s fantasy. My fantasy yard would have no lawn and would be no maintenance with plants that took care of themselves, but we are working towards my fantasy, at least in sections of our yard, by planting native plants that once established need little care.
Thankseveryone for your good wishes and your deposits in the bank for me. It means a lot and I feel better already. It really is great to have friends like all of you.
I’ll be at the party. Can I bring some chokecherry wine that a friend gave us. He makes wines from several different kinds of fruit but I like the chokecherry best.. I also have some regular juice.
serena - you must be a girl after my own heart. I have a special love of chokecherries. Growing up in the midwest, I have developed a special fondness for chokecherry syrup, which I use on waffles and pancakes. I would love to try the wine.
Sorry* doc!* I couldn’t pass up this beautiful day to work in my garden, so I left you sleep! Remember that tmr. morning when you try to wake me up like you did today!! :-D
cleo, by master gardener, do you mean she just knows her gardening, or does she work with your State Extension service? We have Master Gardeners here who volunteer their time two days a week at Penn State Extension to answer phone calls from gardeners who have questions about their trees, vegetable gardens, flowers, etc They have to take a short course and test to be sure they qualify. I think I could do it, but I just don’t have the time. Maybe when I retire??
Doc When I read todays strip, I thought of you1 I’m like Wink, I need a coofee before I make my coffee. I’m surprised your coffee gets cold though. Wouldn’t the nuclear activity keep it piping hot? At least you can find it in the dark!
*Cleo, Doc *and anyone else on the West Coast. I just had to tell you this, I don’t know where any of you are in relation to the west coast, but the husband of my mother’s minister is driving his Harley Davidson to California for some gather there, and then he’s going to drive it up the West coast to B.C. where he is meeting his wife (the minister) for her holidays. He’ll be gone 5 weeks. He emails her everyday- must have a blackberry.
Just thought I’d mention that. It’d be fun if someone was near the coast. Of course, You must see lots of Canadian plates over there if you are close to the border.
Dawn: I’m not sure if we can still get Krispy Kreme’s here. They were a big sensation when they first came out a few years ago. When I was at work, we’d have someone bring some in occasionally, but you had to drive anywhere to get them, and I don’t have a car. I think mostly wwe went back to Tim’s for donuts.
I’d love to have one now, but I’m sure they are long gone since breakfast.
Shika - I do see lots of BC plates. I am just over 30 miles from the BC border. Some of our neighbors on the lake are Canadians and have vacation homes here.
Cleo Look for Ontario plates. I’m pretty sure they are from Ontario. The plates are white with blue lettering. And of course, a Maple leaf. Don’t know what day he’s be griving by of course. My BIL sometimes goes to these conventions too. He also has a Harley.
Goodnight Akenta. Sorry I missed you. I is ten o’clock now here, so we must be on the same time. Another hour, and it’s bedtime for me. Church tomorrow
Shika - I should have said that I see lots of Canada plates. I am seeing Ontario plates quite often. It’s funny, the plates that I see on a regular basis are of course BC and Alberta, but third is Ontario. Of course, it is such a big province.
Also, we like B.C.! I suspect it’s the weather we like. People from Quebec wouldn’t travel there as much- too English/western for them. But I know French people in Alberta and some from B.c. who love it.
Carmy, a virgin Mojito sounds good. It sounds refreshing, just like you.
I hope you don’t mind me mentioning this, but I won’t bring it up again- my cousin George from Alberta is undergoing chemo right now for secondary cancer. It started in his colon and went to his liver. they say it’s a new treatment just approved in Canada, and when the lesion is shrink, they’ll operate. Anywasy, I appreciate what you have been going through based on what he says chemo is like. He can only work half days.
Shika, going up I-5 goes by where I live in Oregon. We just did various caches in the area but 2 had a terrain difficulty rating of 5 which means it gets pretty hairy at times (don’t tell Dry)
Glad to hear Carmy. How’s your drink, or do you have it yet.
CleoI’ve heard of Drummondville, but can’t say I’ve been there. My best friend is French. Her mom is from Quebec, her dad is from Sudbury. My friend lives in Cantley, Quebec and is a lawyer in Ottawa. Her husband is in the military-airforce. They met in the military. She was a navigator at the time.
Shika, What has happened to your cousin George is exactly that happened to me. There is no plan to operate, I already had the major operation in Jan ‘07. BTW, my latest scans came back, everything is going good, the chemo is working.
Good news Carmy. He’s only 59, and he’s optimistic. He wants to visit me when this is over. I know that there is so much more you can do these days, isn’t there? It is encouraging.
I’m glad your latest scan is clear. *Here’s to YOU!” (clink!)
Thanks JFri. Did I ever tell you how my husband almost drove over a cliff in Oregon? We were on highway 100 (?). It was the coastal highway. We left WA and we were heading to Texas. Anyway, I drove after that, all the way to Texas.
Yes, it was Hwy 101, thank you. He was gawking at the scenery and then he turned around to tell our daughters to check out the scenery too. That’s when I noticed I he was way too close to the edge.
We joke about it all the time now. Remember when Daddy almost drove us into the Pacific Ocean?
Shika, the view is gorgeous! He didn’t want to let me drive, but the eggnog milkshake that he HAD to have from McDonald’s made him as sick as a dog. The girls and I had Burger King and we were fine.
Hey Tabby, how’s the reading going? Ha! I know what that is like. I ususally keep up, but I think I must some today. No wonder people think we’re Yappy Nuts! Oh, yeah, Dawn?
So much to do, and so little time. I know, the opposite of not being busy is being bored. There’s something to be said for just stopping to smell the roses though. But if I dranK as much coffee as you do, I’d never stop either I suppose!
Good DocLife is too precious too be so busy you can’t stop to appreciate it. Enough sleep will lengthen your life too. Not to mention time with your sweetie.
I never used to have the time. that’s why I left work to return to University. this way, my busyness will result in a path of life that is at least as fullfilling as it is busy. And this time off due to disablility has been a blessing in disguise. Too bad I’m not always well enough to appreciate the roses, but my good days are out numbering the bad days by a long shot.
I hope you can get some more down time Carmy- and not by being sick.
I usually have the time, but sometimes I have no energy. That’s when things get backed up for me. My mantra is all I can do is all I can do. So I don’t get upset about it.
Doc, I saw your response to my comment about your coffee on Ballard Street. I think everyone on gocomics is on to that now too.
Shika - My lake is not big. It is kind of divided into two sections which a small bridge seperates. The big part of the lake is about seven miles around, it is the shallowest and also has the freeway on the eastern edge. We live on the small part of the lake, which has a park on the other side from us and is by far deeper than the big lake and is also near the source of the lake, which is our drinking water. The small section is probably only a mile around, but the road only is on one side, so it is only an estimate. And, big bonus, we don’t hear the freeway.
Carmy and Doc: You’ve guessed it, beddy time for me.
Carmy, it was great chatting with you.
You too Doc. Have a good night at work.
*Cleo! THANKS FOR INVITING ME TO THE PARTY! ( I hope you can hear me from the kitchen!) I loved the mojito, and the lovely weather and the sunset- to the left, right?
Good Night to whoever comes or goes here tonight, and those just watching from the bleechers!
Oh Cleo. I didn’t see you standing there. Sorry to shout at you like that. It does sound like a lovely place to live. But then you and your lovely wife know that.
The sun does set to our left. For those west coasters, I am about to build a fire in our fire pit and also in our chiminea. Coffee drinks or brandy anyone?
Cleo your place sounds wonderful. Could you lend me your wife? We are setting up our yard and don’t know how to keep the deer from eating everything except fencing.
Carmy great news about your tests. Chemo is a curse but it is also a blessing. (((Carmy)))Shika,Go NutsSerena more energy and peace from here.
Good to see you Rad
Night to everyone leaving or who has left. The sun is just about to set here so I think I’ll start going through the toons.

Pirate just picked me up to come to the party!
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Yes Dry, we have six areas to sit comfortably outdoors. Two have tables with umbrellas. We are actually thinking of adding another deck for out of the wind spring sitting. On a lake, we get wind almost every sunny day. In the spring it can be cold, so we might build a small deck, just big enough for a couple of chairs and a small table where we can enjoy morning coffee in April and May. In the summer the breeze is nice.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
JFri is caching and texting as dangerous as driving and texting? Somehow I get the feeling you are rock climbing!
Did pirate pick up Joy too?
I’m ready to rumble, got my party clothes on!!
cleokaya over 15 years ago
If you or the pirate want rum and coke JFri, just bring the coke. I have Bacardi Light, Myers and a bottle of Ron Rio Amber that just appeared in my liquor cabinet one day. I wish all my liquor what just appear in my cabinet. Instead, it disappears.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
cleo, does it disappear because you drink it? That would explain the car wash incident! :-D
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Dry - What can I fix you? I also have wines and beer.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Dry - My system was created to enjoy almost every alcoholic beverage, with the exception of Canadian Ryes. So yes, I can put a dent in my stash. But I prefer having help putting that dent in the contents.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
Cleo, actually, can you fix a mojito?
You must have a REALLY nice home! I envy you! We moved here when we first looked into buying a home, rent to own we did. It’s a nice house, but as the kids got bigger, the house got samller, and now it’s perfect for a retirement home when the kids are gone, but I always had a fantasy dream of my ideal house, guess I should just be thankful for what I have! At least my home is comfortable and its mine!
The Duke 1 over 15 years ago
cleo we have plenty of Coke aboard! Dry, Joy was already aboard! And me rock climbing while texting? O:-)
cleokaya over 15 years ago
It is a good place to be.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Dry- We all have our fantasy house. It is tough to get, unless you have lots of money. My house is not my fantasy house, but my yard is. Only in my fantasy, somebody else is taking care of the yard. LOL
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Dry - To be honest, my yard is my wife’s fantasy. My fantasy yard would have no lawn and would be no maintenance with plants that took care of themselves, but we are working towards my fantasy, at least in sections of our yard, by planting native plants that once established need little care.
serenasakitty over 15 years ago
Thankseveryone for your good wishes and your deposits in the bank for me. It means a lot and I feel better already. It really is great to have friends like all of you. I’ll be at the party. Can I bring some chokecherry wine that a friend gave us. He makes wines from several different kinds of fruit but I like the chokecherry best.. I also have some regular juice.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
JFri - I am awaiting you and your thirsty companions.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
serena - you must be a girl after my own heart. I have a special love of chokecherries. Growing up in the midwest, I have developed a special fondness for chokecherry syrup, which I use on waffles and pancakes. I would love to try the wine.

cleo, by master gardener, do you mean she just knows her gardening, or does she work with your State Extension service? We have Master Gardeners here who volunteer their time two days a week at Penn State Extension to answer phone calls from gardeners who have questions about their trees, vegetable gardens, flowers, etc They have to take a short course and test to be sure they qualify. I think I could do it, but I just don’t have the time. Maybe when I retire??

Shika - Here is your mojito, which is rum, sugar and mint muddled together then topped with lime juice and club soda. It’s best to use powdered sugar.

Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
Dawn: I’m not sure if we can still get Krispy Kreme’s here. They were a big sensation when they first came out a few years ago. When I was at work, we’d have someone bring some in occasionally, but you had to drive anywhere to get them, and I don’t have a car. I think mostly wwe went back to Tim’s for donuts.
I’d love to have one now, but I’m sure they are long gone since breakfast.
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
Cleo: MMM. It’s delicious1 I didn’t think I’d like rum this much. You’d better watch out. You know what rum does to me.

Shika - I do see lots of BC plates. I am just over 30 miles from the BC border. Some of our neighbors on the lake are Canadians and have vacation homes here.
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
Cleo Look for Ontario plates. I’m pretty sure they are from Ontario. The plates are white with blue lettering. And of course, a Maple leaf. Don’t know what day he’s be griving by of course. My BIL sometimes goes to these conventions too. He also has a Harley.

Goodnight Akenta. Sorry I missed you. I is ten o’clock now here, so we must be on the same time. Another hour, and it’s bedtime for me. Church tomorrow
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Shika - I should have said that I see lots of Canada plates. I am seeing Ontario plates quite often. It’s funny, the plates that I see on a regular basis are of course BC and Alberta, but third is Ontario. Of course, it is such a big province.

Goodnight Akenta. sorry I missed you too. I just got back from Blockbuster. Hi Shika, glad you found your saved spot.

Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
JFri: You said the Pirate picked you up. where did he disappear to? Another treasure hunt? Or is JOY with him?
carmy over 15 years ago
Yes, it was Hwy 101, thank you. He was gawking at the scenery and then he turned around to tell our daughters to check out the scenery too. That’s when I noticed I he was way too close to the edge. We joke about it all the time now. Remember when Daddy almost drove us into the Pacific Ocean?
carmy over 15 years ago
JFri, why the bummer?
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
Sounds like a hairy ride. But it’s true that looking back on something is always funnier than going through it. The view must be spectacular though.

So much to do, and so little time. I know, the opposite of not being busy is being bored. There’s something to be said for just stopping to smell the roses though. But if I dranK as much coffee as you do, I’d never stop either I suppose!
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
I’ll be here- just doing dishes. No doubt Cleo is too!
CLEOSend your wife over here to help with MY dishes. There aren’t as many! I’m sure she could give me pointers on my poor houseplants here.
carmy over 15 years ago
If one could manage to balance the days of “being too busy” and “smelling the roses,” that would be really nice.
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
Good DocLife is too precious too be so busy you can’t stop to appreciate it. Enough sleep will lengthen your life too. Not to mention time with your sweetie.
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
I never used to have the time. that’s why I left work to return to University. this way, my busyness will result in a path of life that is at least as fullfilling as it is busy. And this time off due to disablility has been a blessing in disguise. Too bad I’m not always well enough to appreciate the roses, but my good days are out numbering the bad days by a long shot.
I hope you can get some more down time Carmy- and not by being sick.
carmy over 15 years ago
I usually have the time, but sometimes I have no energy. That’s when things get backed up for me. My mantra is all I can do is all I can do. So I don’t get upset about it. Doc, I saw your response to my comment about your coffee on Ballard Street. I think everyone on gocomics is on to that now too.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Shika - My lake is not big. It is kind of divided into two sections which a small bridge seperates. The big part of the lake is about seven miles around, it is the shallowest and also has the freeway on the eastern edge. We live on the small part of the lake, which has a park on the other side from us and is by far deeper than the big lake and is also near the source of the lake, which is our drinking water. The small section is probably only a mile around, but the road only is on one side, so it is only an estimate. And, big bonus, we don’t hear the freeway.
