Good morning to all of you. Such a lovely Sunday isn’t it . As usual for this late night / early morning routine of mine, I just got done over at Pibgorn so here I am now.
Be careful what you say JFri, Akenta and Dry may not be here now, but you can bet I have a few tricks up my sleeve ( Ties JFri up to a chair, blows a kiss and leaves giggling ) .
Good morning everyone. I don’t see JFri so I guess he must have managed to escape. ladyw I don’t think whatever you tied him up with was strong enough - he’s a slippery guy.
cleo thanks for the breakfast - waffles were yummy.
Marg - Thanks, my avatar fits last night perfectly. At dusk, my sweetie and I went for a skinny dip in the lake. I don’t care what anyone says, but swimming without a bathing suit is tops.
Carmy No, she doesn’t know who it is/was. Her hobby is quilting(she has made many beautiful quilts) and she is excellent with a sewing machine also. She even has a computerized sewing machine! She was thinking of making something similar because it’s so cute. I’ll let here know and we can google it.
The Nuked coffee pipeline has operating fine. I’ve had to change out the riveting from time to time and replace them with Titanium rivets. That seems to be holding better.
doctortoon - I too was getting heavier than my ideal weight. Since April I have lost 25 lbs and have two more to lose before I reach my ideal weight. HI Everybody!
I have a great story for everyone, but I am not a great storyteller so bear with me.
I will be playing the role of Idiot.
Idiot goes over to the folks house to help tear out the moldy walls and ceiling tiles from the basement. Uses a ATV to haul the wood out to a fire pit. Idiot wants to ride around faster, so unhooks the trailer and starts riding around through the uncut grass that is now 3 feet plus. As he is flying through the weeds, he sees a tree stump dead ahead. He only has enough time to realize that this isn’t going to end well. Idiot hits the tree stump, get bucked from the ATV like it was a bull, and crashes into the ground hard.
The hamster has learned a valuable lesson: never drive recklessly through unknown terrain.
The end.
doctortoon - I feel good that I am losing weight without dieting. All I basically did was start eating healthier. I never ate much fruit and now I crave it.
The idiot- er, I am fine, I got lucky, only got a lot of bruise and scrapes. Nothing worse. The ATV was fine too, which is also a good thing, because it wasn’t mine. The visit was awesome. I got to see a lot of family members I haven’t seen in a while. Even though we worked most of the time, any job where you use an ATV and a sledge hammer isn’t really a bad job. :)
johnnyd - I am glad the results weren’t more serious. An acquaintance of mine broke his collarbone in an idiotic ATV accident that was caused by reckless driving. He hit a tree. It’s funny how those trees keep moving out in front of a guys vehicle.
LOL Doc, I am sure by now I would be too. I do more than my share of things that I haven’t quite thought though.
Cleo, I was lucky that I wasn’t going that fast when I did hit that stump. I could have been much worse.
Now I am off again for a while. BBML.
We live, Learn from our mistakes, and try to be more careful the next time.
I know that for now on when I climb the ladder to go into the swimming pool ( or any other ladder for that matter ) I’ll pay more attention to what I’m doing.
So you be careful johnnydoc5 and take care of your self.
I enter Big Top and find a vast empty landscape. Oh well, I just came to see what was up. I have done some watering, edging, weed whacking, fruit picking, fruit freezing and step’n’fetchin’.
I’m back, but I’ve got a bathroom door/door jamb to Fix/Sand/Make open and close better, etc.
And I really should put the reman power steering pump on my ‘83 Lincoln before the warranty on the pump runs out.
And the back 40 needs cuttin’.
Thunderstorms here…..I think they came from Atlanta.
I’ve got some chicken wings with french fries to add to the lunch/dinner. Sugar cookies, too, made my my significant other. Oh heck….have some bing cherries, too. They’re in season and affordable for a short time at prices more easily handled.
I was moving some boxes and noticed my termite farm had a crack and a bunch are missing. Has anyone seen any termintes????
(Beams down, grabs ice cream & leaves note that reads: Shattered right shoulder, broke 3 ribs & bridge of nose in BAD ATV crash in ‘85. Wasn’t my last waltz with it either!)
Dry Blame? moi I am the victim…my farm got cracked by the pesky movers. i keep trying to fix my computer but it is always slow….so I cracked the case today and found some of my termites. I do have another farm now (handy-dandy Wally-World) so just send ‘em through the net and I’ll crack my case every morning and download ‘em.
MoPar sorry to hear about the tornado - i remember watching them on the news last year - pretty scary day. RRAmom lives in the real tornado alley so I think she’s more used to them then we are.
Dry & Lonewolf - doc told us one time that it was okay to speak about our religion, as long as it didn’t get into “mine is better than yours” You can check with him to see if I remember that correctly, but that’s the way I remember it.
Akenta - If a tornado hit Mopar’s house, he’s had closer experience than I have. The closest experience I had didn’t even make it up to tornado status, but sucked the screws out of our gate. Been through bad hail storms, seen areas before/after tornadoes, even had a cousin get picked up in one while driving across KS, but haven’t been through one myself. (Close enough to see one, though.)
My cousin said his 2-3 minutes of fame about the tornado ride will be on the Discovery Channel next Sunday, August 9th at “7 EST.”
Hello all. Well, I have had a pretty good day. Lots of watering as usual. If this keeps going on I’ll drain the lake. Sorry about your house MoPar. At least it sounds like you are a handy guy. Give me a nail and I promise I won’t bend it the same way twice.
Classic funny descriptions of accidents (for jdoc and others):
.1. The other car collided with mine without giving warning of its intention.
.2. I thought my window was down but found it was up when I put my hand through it.
.3. The guy was all over the place. I had to swerve a number of times before I hit him.
.4. I pulled away from the side of the road, glanced at my mother-in-law and headed over the embankment.
.5. The accident occured when I was attempting to bring my car out of a skid by steering it into the other vehicle.
.6. I was driving my car out of the driveway in the usual manner, when it was struck by the other car in the same place it had been struck several times before.
.7. As I approached the intersection, a stop sign suddenly appeared in a place where no stop sign had ever appeared before. I was unable to stop in time to avoid the accident.
.8. The telephone pole was approaching fast. I was attempting to swerve out of its path when it struck my front end.
.9. To avoid hitting the bumper of the car in front, I struck the pedestrian.
.10. My car was legally parked as it backed into the other vehicle.
.11. An invisible car came out of nowhere, struck my vehicle and vanished.
.12. The pedestrian had no idea which direction to go, so I ran him over.
.13. Coming home, I drove into the wrong house and collided with a tree I don’t have.
MoPar, wow. That must have been a terrible ordeal. Yes, thank goodness no one was hurt. I am assuming you have no children. Living out of one room would be tough, but with children even more difficult! Glad tlhings are coming together for you finally!
Cleo I made the mistake of looking over my garden tonite. That’s why I disappeared for a bit, and will probably disappear again! Why don’t flowers and vegetables grow as fast as weeds???
Hi, DRY! No, it was just another summer day. I guess I’m used to the heat. It is much colder in the morning now, however. The sun hasn’t risen over the top of the mountain yet when I start my bike ride at 5:45. How are things by you?
Dry - I know what you mean. I had sprayed my bank a week before with Roundup, went back to check and a blackberry branch had grown taller than myself in just that week.
Marg Today was a typical Sunday for me. LOL Good though, I still have my dad. It was supposed to rain all day but didn’t. And I still have to water some of my plants!
Wish I had your heat! This has been a pretty cool summer compared to others.
Cleo I have my hose running in my flower bed. I noticed this summer we haven’t had many bugs about. Saw my first Japanese beetle tonight, and I have not been bothered with flea beetles on my plants AT ALL! Which is strange!!
Ok! I am done with the bathroom door. And yes I even pulled some weeds while I was out in the yard. I’ve been lucky to have kept them under control this year.
Dry –I am enjoying this summer. Basically 80’s all summer with 60’s at night. Great sleeping weather. Don’t have to turn the air on at night!
Hi Marg
Johnny –I am also glad you are here to tell us about your “incident”!
Bmonk –I’ve also read those before. It’s like a Letterman list. Funny!
((((Terry)))) Glad we’re good!
We run the air even in winter, only on fan then for the white noise. Amazing how you get used to something. When the power turns off, I become wide awake!!
We have had 80’s and 60’s at night, but I l love the 90 degree mark or better. I was born in the wrong state, though I do enjoy ths smell of autumn leaves. And seeing the snow fall, and then I hate it after that! LOL
Hi, Terry!. Yes, I’ve heard how cold it’s been back in IL this summer. If we were still there, we’d be real surly, because it would be too cold to take the boat out and go swimming. I remeber how everyone tried to cram whatever they could into those three, short summer months.
Shika, you’re mixing me up with marg, WHICH IS A COMPLIMANT!! THANK YOU!. I never saw that list, but it is FUNNY!! I am sure at least a couple of those remarks were made in RL! LOL
I know I’m getting here late to do this, but I wanted to say I’m with the Bear. I love “Headlines”, love Leno and hope he takes the Headlines feature to his new show, whenever that starts.
What’s this Lonewolf is talking about? I’ve mentioned ch-your-ch many times without it being a problem. It happens to be were I am on a Sunday, and not here. No big deal.
But if it is, let me know, and I’ll quit seminary. lol
chromosome, I saw a commercial for Leno’s new show, and it showed him reading those headlines. It will be on at 10 EST but I forget what night.. He will also be doing those on the street interviews. It will start sometime in the fall, early fall.
Pardon my ignorance, but does anyone know where a chop comes from, as in Lamb chop, veal chop. I’m too lazy to google the word, much less get out my dictionary. LOL
I just had the most delicious veal chop, but I’ve never had it before, only pork or lamb.
Got me thinking, which is always a problem with me.
And now I better say good night. Work tomorrow and the first wave of schools starting. Need to make sure I get up early if I want to say good morning to the tribe and start my comic rounds.
Hello all again.
Thanks for the kind words, except for a big scrape on my arm and a bruises over the left side of my body, including a massive one in my shoulder, I’ll live to be stupid again. I am glad I’m right handed.
I don’t really use IE any version, I like firefox. That is my opinion.
Dry –We’ve always been good. Nothing changed. I just had a point to make. Nothing to do with you, just my stubborness.
As far as the hot weather, I spent to many days in the field(in the military) in Texas and in Kuwait. I’ve had enough of the hot weather until I decide to retire in Texas.
Army-14yrs split over two different times. First time I went in at 17, second time at 35. Passed all the tests better at 35 than at 17. Mind you I did well at 17.
My units were 1st Cavalry Division, 8th Engineer Battalion,
and several units I was attached to for Ranger and Special Forces Training. There were others but those were the main ones.
The special unit was the 1st Cavalry Horse Detachment. It was stricktly a recruitment tool for the Army, but we dressed in Civil War uniforms with the weapons and all and rode horses for Parades and such. I got to ride in the 1996 Rose Bowl Parade and the trail for Custer’s Last Stand! Pretty cool.
Thanks Akenta for the info on chops. Sorry I missed you again. My toon-tour took longer than normal because I was having fun posting comments on them. Being this late, noone will see them, but it’s fun anyways.
I still don’t see how chops can come from anywhere on the animal. Or is “chop” simple a description rather than a cut, like sirloin.
I just had the most amazing Italian dinner. Very few ingredients and very tasty. I love that my wife and I like the same foods. I have always been experimental and so is she. Yum.
Did anyone see the news item on the couple driving from (I think) Denmark to Capri? This is true. They spelled it wrong in the GPS and wound up in the industrial town of CARPI! LOL That’s 600km North of Capri, and Capri is an island.
GET THIS: They didn’t notice anything amiss, and actually asked a local how to get to the famous grotto on Capri from where they were.
When they were told where they were, they just looked surprised, turned around and drove south again. ROFLOL
Good thing I don’t let my 13yr old on this comic site.
B.C. has been one of his favorite comics for a couple of years now. He would definitely have seen that and even he would have known what it implied. I can understand the editorials being off limits, but B.C. Very sad.
In the 60’s and the early 70’s it was the 101st Airborne Rangers. In the mid 70’s, they became their own unit, the 1st Ranger Battalion, then added the 2nd Ranger Battalion. Starting in the 80’s more were added.
Dry I don’t know what has gotten into me tonight. I went back, and he said something else- and I replies again. I’d better saty away. He may be a troll. I just hate it when someone slips something into a perfectly harmless strip.
cleo I’m not as bad as I make myself out to be. I have a self-deprecatory sense of humour.
But if I’m not paying attention, or if I’m a passenger, forget it. In fact, as a passenger, I may not even notice if the drivier is still in town. lol-That’s my weird exaggeratory sense of humour again.
Terry forgive me for being fuzzy on some of the details, but that was a long time ago. And by the way, I still have friends in Fayetteville, but I keep forgetting to ask if Pope is still open. And you never did answer my question, WERE YOU AT BRAGG?
Shika and Terry, just flag anything you find offensive. Sometimes if you comment to the trolls, they follow you and we don’t want that scumbag over here.
Dry - Sorry, I just now read your question. (Went to a piano concert tonight.)
My cousin’s bit about his tornado encounter will be on the Discovery Channel’s Raging Planet on Sunday, August 9, at 7PM EST. (At least that’s what it says - I thought we were still on Daylight Savings Time, so “check your local listings” to be sure.)
Uh cleo Is Frank Zappa like the Hipster? Are we talking about that poster? It’s too bad then if he’s doing his schtick on a comic site that children may read, that’s all.
Mentioning religion is OK…..Discussing it or arguing about it is NOT! We ALL say we will remember somebody in our prayers and it has ALWAYS been OK! Get it? Got it? Good! (POOF….GONE)
Shika, I believe the toon was called “Life with Loopy.” It aired on Nickelodeon in the mid to late 90’s. Loopy was actually a toon on another toon called “Kablam.”
One cute episode was when her father warned her that if she did not wash behind her ears, she would start growing potatoes there. So, she did not wash behind her ears and she had a whole vegetable garden growing behind her ears. It was very funny is a sick kinda way.
hi all im here just for a few mins. not going to try to catch up tonight… may read fridays and call it quits to tired to do more and i have a long day ahead of me.

MoPar sorry to hear about the tornado - i remember watching them on the news last year - pretty scary day. RRAmom lives in the real tornado alley so I think she’s more used to them then we are.
Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
Dry & Lonewolf - doc told us one time that it was okay to speak about our religion, as long as it didn’t get into “mine is better than yours” You can check with him to see if I remember that correctly, but that’s the way I remember it.
Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
Akenta - If a tornado hit Mopar’s house, he’s had closer experience than I have. The closest experience I had didn’t even make it up to tornado status, but sucked the screws out of our gate. Been through bad hail storms, seen areas before/after tornadoes, even had a cousin get picked up in one while driving across KS, but haven’t been through one myself. (Close enough to see one, though.) My cousin said his 2-3 minutes of fame about the tornado ride will be on the Discovery Channel next Sunday, August 9th at “7 EST.”

Shika, I believe the toon was called “Life with Loopy.” It aired on Nickelodeon in the mid to late 90’s. Loopy was actually a toon on another toon called “Kablam.” One cute episode was when her father warned her that if she did not wash behind her ears, she would start growing potatoes there. So, she did not wash behind her ears and she had a whole vegetable garden growing behind her ears. It was very funny is a sick kinda way.
