doctortoon - I too was getting heavier than my ideal weight. Since April I have lost 25 lbs and have two more to lose before I reach my ideal weight. All I did was to cut out chips, nuts, chocolate and eat more fruit. Oh, and i still eat cheese, but I don’t snack on it. Chocolate is favorite thing, but I feel so much better and I am comfortable with my new diet. My key to success for me is to not buy snacks and have them in the house.

HI Everybody! I have a great story for everyone, but I am not a great storyteller so bear with me. I will be playing the role of Idiot. Idiot goes over to the folks house to help tear out the moldy walls and ceiling tiles from the basement. Uses a ATV to haul the wood out to a fire pit. Idiot wants to ride around faster, so unhooks the trailer and starts riding around through the uncut grass that is now 3 feet plus. As he is flying through the weeds, he sees a tree stump dead ahead. He only has enough time to realize that this isn’t going to end well. Idiot hits the tree stump, get bucked from the ATV like it was a bull, and crashes into the ground hard. The hamster has learned a valuable lesson: never drive recklessly through unknown terrain. The end.

The idiot- er, I am fine, I got lucky, only got a lot of bruise and scrapes. Nothing worse. The ATV was fine too, which is also a good thing, because it wasn’t mine. The visit was awesome. I got to see a lot of family members I haven’t seen in a while. Even though we worked most of the time, any job where you use an ATV and a sledge hammer isn’t really a bad job. :)

Akenta - If a tornado hit Mopar’s house, he’s had closer experience than I have. The closest experience I had didn’t even make it up to tornado status, but sucked the screws out of our gate. Been through bad hail storms, seen areas before/after tornadoes, even had a cousin get picked up in one while driving across KS, but haven’t been through one myself. (Close enough to see one, though.) My cousin said his 2-3 minutes of fame about the tornado ride will be on the Discovery Channel next Sunday, August 9th at “7 EST.”

Classic funny descriptions of accidents (for jdoc and others):

.1. The other car collided with mine without giving warning of its intention.

.2. I thought my window was down but found it was up when I put my hand through it.

.3. The guy was all over the place. I had to swerve a number of times before I hit him.

.4. I pulled away from the side of the road, glanced at my mother-in-law and headed over the embankment.

.5. The accident occured when I was attempting to bring my car out of a skid by steering it into the other vehicle.

.6. I was driving my car out of the driveway in the usual manner, when it was struck by the other car in the same place it had been struck several times before.

.7. As I approached the intersection, a stop sign suddenly appeared in a place where no stop sign had ever appeared before. I was unable to stop in time to avoid the accident.

.8. The telephone pole was approaching fast. I was attempting to swerve out of its path when it struck my front end.

.9. To avoid hitting the bumper of the car in front, I struck the pedestrian.

.10. My car was legally parked as it backed into the other vehicle.

.11. An invisible car came out of nowhere, struck my vehicle and vanished.

.12. The pedestrian had no idea which direction to go, so I ran him over.

.13. Coming home, I drove into the wrong house and collided with a tree I don’t have.

My units were 1st Cavalry Division, 8th Engineer Battalion, and several units I was attached to for Ranger and Special Forces Training. There were others but those were the main ones.

The special unit was the 1st Cavalry Horse Detachment. It was stricktly a recruitment tool for the Army, but we dressed in Civil War uniforms with the weapons and all and rode horses for Parades and such. I got to ride in the 1996 Rose Bowl Parade and the trail for Custer’s Last Stand! Pretty cool.

carmi I didn’t flag him, just posted a mild warning. That was a bit much.

    I tagged “The Barn” today:

“Maniac Sunday at the Barn. I think you should get the credit for it though. The strip was good today, as always.

Wasn’t “Dog eat Doug” priceless today?

Since when does a man get excited about going grocery shopping?

They’ve taken their relationship to new heights. I think it’s great.

Good thing I don’t let my 13yr old on this comic site.

B.C. has been one of his favorite comics for a couple of years now. He would definitely have seen that and even he would have known what it implied. I can understand the editorials being off limits, but B.C. Very sad.

In the 60’s and the early 70’s it was the 101st Airborne Rangers. In the mid 70’s, they became their own unit, the 1st Ranger Battalion, then added the 2nd Ranger Battalion. Starting in the 80’s more were added.

Dry I don’t know what has gotten into me tonight. I went back, and he said something else- and I replies again. I’d better saty away. He may be a troll. I just hate it when someone slips something into a perfectly harmless strip.

At least at SOTU, you know what to expect.

cleo I’m not as bad as I make myself out to be. I have a self-deprecatory sense of humour.

But if I’m not paying attention, or if I’m a passenger, forget it. In fact, as a passenger, I may not even notice if the drivier is still in town. lol-That’s my weird exaggeratory sense of humour again.

I love making up words too!

Dry - Sorry, I just now read your question. (Went to a piano concert tonight.) My cousin’s bit about his tornado encounter will be on the Discovery Channel’s Raging Planet on Sunday, August 9, at 7PM EST. (At least that’s what it says - I thought we were still on Daylight Savings Time, so “check your local listings” to be sure.)

Uh cleo Is Frank Zappa like the Hipster? Are we talking about that poster? It’s too bad then if he’s doing his schtick on a comic site that children may read, that’s all.

Nothing wrong with being a Zappa fan.

I try, but in this case, with my son getting older and wanting to visit this comic site more and more, I’d like to think maybe he’d give a d@ng!

Shika, I believe the toon was called “Life with Loopy.” It aired on Nickelodeon in the mid to late 90’s. Loopy was actually a toon on another toon called “Kablam.” One cute episode was when her father warned her that if she did not wash behind her ears, she would start growing potatoes there. So, she did not wash behind her ears and she had a whole vegetable garden growing behind her ears. It was very funny is a sick kinda way.
