I’m off to bed still terribly confused by Dry and JFri. Might be my brain’s lack of function at the moment, but we’ll see. Good night all, and peace and love.

Hey, I’m #15! Good Morning, cousin Josh, Yukoneric, Joy, Mopar, Tabby, Marg, TerryLoneWolf, and many others. Honestly, You need to be more like me and cousin Josh and get a good night’s sleep and not wait until midnight to be first on the list! This internet’s the reason why there’s so many sleep-deprived people out there these days!
Today my son has a scrimmage game for football so that will take up most of the day. I need to go through my daughter’s car for her so she gets back forth to college. Going to be a long day and I not doing good to start with! LOL
Dry I don’t think you can get away with just cereal. I’m almost willing to bet that is really all that *johnny has to offer. Same with my place, which is why I’m glad I fall asleep before this thing changes over.
That late at night cereal is probably about the lightest on your stomach if your headed to bed!!! Besides what do you expect from a young’un. I figured something like pizza and nachos for breakfast from him!!! LOL
OK, it’s time for me to get “ready for some football”, a Monday Night ………..whoops got carried away. Off to the kids football game. See y’all later Tribe!
Good Morning Everyone!
I was up late because I had a late afternoon nap.
I have lots to do today. School starts tomorrow for my girls! Tomorrow morning will be so fun, uh maybe.
Hi All,
In case anybody reads Adam@Home, I found out that Rob Harrell has been drawing it since 2/09. This may be old news to some of you. Rob writes his last name in the margin of the comic. He’s doing the strip so Brian Basset has more time to work on Red and Rover.
So, is Rover a Basset hound…?
Doc, that could happen for you. Do you want me to ask the nurses?
Once when I was sitting back down in my recliner, one of the IV pole legs got under the recliner. It started falling and I grabbed right before it hit the floor. WHEW!
Doc, I agree with you. For me, the art is secondary. I enjoy Harrell’s snarky humor. Adam@Home has been much more appealing to me after he took it over.
BTW, I think your pipeline has sprung a leak…

hi tribe
just in for a quick catch up. it’s a busy Sunday for me, this weekend, since the family is getting together to celebrate Dad’s 80th birthday (which is actually Thursday). haven’t even made time to do the puzzles and the toonland tour, but i had to see what was happening here, at least. i might manage to get back here later tonight. i’ll see.
TTFN

Happy Sunday, folks. Steaks and baked taters for dinner, cooking on the grill.
We’re drying out from another 7+ inches of rain in about 4 hours yesterday. The lake is gone from the back yard. However, my mom’s ‘05 Corolla had windows slightly down and got a bit wet (mostly seats and floor). Got home and put windows up before the worst hit. This morning the radio came on briefly, then went off and won’t come back. Nothing else seems to be wrong. I checked the fuse under the hood. There isn’t one where it says the radio fuse should be. Put one in, still nothing. Supposed to be more under the dash/glove box, but I can’t find them. Any ideas anyone?
Saucy after my car troubles last weekend (smacked into a type of flower pot in the church parking lot) my Karma’s not good for auto related problems. But I will deposit some Karma for ‘not stressing out’ so you and anyone else can draw from the bank.
Tabby Going to college. Sigh….memories….there are days I still wish I was in college, no worries except tests.
I’ve got corn on the cob to throw on Saucy’s grill, and fudge ripple ice cream for dessert.
Curioser and curioser. When I got in the car a few minutes ago to put it in the garage, the radio worked. The presets were gone, but it did work. So, either I jiggled something that was loose when I messed with the fuses earlier or something dried out. At any rate, it’s fixed.
I don’t have much to offer, but I’ll throw in some chips and dip (guacamole dip, bean dip, sour cream and onion dip. and some of that salsa dip both mild and hot. Please enjoy.
Saucy - I’m guessing something dried out is why it started working. I’m not the “car guy” in the family, but am klutzy enough to have experience with getting electrical items wet. Most electrical items will work once again, after they’ve completely dried out, if water was the culprit. Of course, that is if they didn’t rust or corrode, so drying things out quickly is important. I’m sure one of the car guys in the tribe are much more knowledgeable than I am.
The Old Wolf over at Pibgorn found a link called FLAME WARRIORS which is one man’s views concerning people who populate Forums, message boards and post on comment sites. He studied the online personalities, attitudes and idiosyncrasies and in his words, created caricatures of these posters. TabbyLynn - College will be pretty much the most fun of your entire life. It’s better than High School. (What is it guys, after the class bell rings and the prof doesn’t show up for five minutes, you get a walk?) It’a a whole new lifestyle.
tabby - I’m sure you’ll do fine. One piece of advice my brother gave me was helpful. Try to sit in the front of the classroom. It is easier to hear the prof and see what he/she puts on the board/screen. Plus, you get less distractions from classmates talking to you. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, if the format allows it. Usually they give some points based on classroom participation. Make sure you read the syllabus, so you know what is due when. If you go to all the classes, and do all the homework, rarely will you flunk. If you’re having problems, ask the prof (during his/her office hours or after class) what you need to do. My son’s college has free tutoring, don’t know if that is standard or not. The best advice is to do all the assignments as soon as possible, because toward the end of the semester it is easy to feel overwhelmed with studying for finals, finishing projects, etc.
My son in college started his classes last week. I’m not sure when K-12 starts around here, as each district has a different date, but they all start in August. Since our homeschool goes on a 4 day week, we’ve done quite a bit of school by this point. But I sure like having that day off each week! It will be a different feeling next year when school starts, since this is my last year for homeschooling. (I really doubt my youngest will flunk!)
hi Tribe
to all those starting school (or with children they’re attached to starting school) my best wishes for a happy and rewarding year. my sister’s younger son left tonight for university, and her younger daugther leaves for her school on Friday. both of them are looking forward to it, though there will be struggles involved. they’ve both been told to speak to Uncle if assistance is needed (and i’ll provide whatever help i am able), but i’m sure they’ll manage.
yyyguy - If you’re in the same town as where they are going to college, I’m sure it will be a big comfort to their parents. Especially if a car breaks down, or some other emergency.
K all im going to bed. goodnight all. it will take an hour or so to fall asleep so i need to go now. telll yuo how it goes tomorrow when i get home. peace and love tribe. love ya.
actually, no. i’m in the same town as their mother.
my nephew is in Ithaca, NY (and i can’t even cross the border until i get around to getting a passport), but i slipped him a few bucks before he left.
my niece is much closer (Hamilton, ON) and i’ve promised her some cash, too, if she needs it.
i’ve been helping out for years, while watching them grow up. not the same as having my own kids, but rewarding, none-the-less.
With all this talk about school beginning. My daughter still has two weeks of summer vacation to enjoy. She is however looking forward to her final year at high school, and can’y wait to get started.
yyyguy Your nephew is in Ithaca? COOL! Ithaca College or Cornell? My oldest son graduated Magna bleeep Laude from Cornell. That campus is beautiful, the town is great! You should get your passport and go. Well worth the visit! I think you would really enjoy Ithaca! Funny, we used to go to Canada all the time with no hassles. Funny (and sad) how times have changed!
@wolfbyte36, all best wishes to her and to you. Your schools must be on a similar schedule to the ones here - my son’s first day back is the day after Labor Day. My son is also starting his senior year. It’s an important year, and getting there is an accomplishment in and of itself.
@Dry
he’s at Cornell working on his masters. he’s into history and political science, and spent his winter term at the Washington DC campus. I drove him down in January and picked him up in May (after spending a couple of days in DC to look around). On the way back, we went through Ithaca because he had to stop off, so I got a quick peek at the area. I have 3 days vacation at the end of Sept. and (if i get off my fanny and get the passport done) I will be visiting at that time (hoping the fall colours will be out - though i suspect it will be too soon). i, too, regret the increased difficulty with border crossings, as i have made many trips to watch the lad play goal for the University @ Buffalo soccer team. I drove to Penn State with my Dad on the second weekend in Oct. 2006 and the colours in upstate NY were fabulous. If I don’t do it this year, i will definitely do it next year, since i’m going to Princeton for his brother’s wedding (a Princeton grad).
[can you tell i’m proud of them? does it show much?]
hi shika, carmy and wolfbyte (and RRAmom if you’re still here). goodnight tabby (if i’m not too late to say it). just going to check on the Aussie Rules Football, and be back in a bit.
What a day, but it’s over. Football walk through, going to another town for the game, driving back home and fixing my daughter’s car for tomorrow(brakes, coil pack, plugs wires and the dead engine culprit, the crankshaft position sensor). But, I am through. Even got my son ready for first day of school tomorrow!! Last one with wolfangil’s help. Actually I helped her with it. LOL
Hey yyyguy I know the feeling! We are just average people and to have a Magna bleeep laude, whoops, I’ll get bleeped again, from an Ivy League College, you and I are in the same boat! You need to go to the HIll and see the view from Cornell, BEAUTIFUL!! In Sept. you won’t be too late. When we went back each Aug. the leaves were changing then.
You need to hit the “Lost Dog” (although rumor is the Lost Dog was turning into a wine bar or something, which would be a shame, just a rumor, that restaurant was great for people like us and the food GREAT!) and “Moosewood” for a meal. And “The Antlers Restaurant” in Dryden,HIT that place for sure, it’s about 15 mins outside of Ithaca, and you DEFINATELY have to hit the Commons!! You will love it! Aren’t you the aging hippie? You will have a BLAST up there!
DRY
Actually after the long day, I’m doing pretty damm good. I thought it would be bad cause I forgot my meds(got to be careful saying what they are-somebody might be listening-LOL) and that results in headaches and other such side effects. But all is fine!!! Thank you.
Hey no one ever answered my ? last night about the NFL network and the games they are showing this year. The regular games they broadcast don’t start until week 10?
time for this aging hippie (you called it, dry - on the attitude, at least. i was only 10 during the “summer of love” but my high school days were definitely hippie-ish [if that’s a word]) to go to bed. salutations to terry, mopar, and shika as well. and shika, i am a canadian. i gathered from your posts that you are, as well. (seems to me you’re in the province west of mine, which i visited last fall - long before i got online). see you all in the morning or whenever our paths cross next. may fortune smile upon you all.
gone.

@wolfbyte36, all best wishes to her and to you. Your schools must be on a similar schedule to the ones here - my son’s first day back is the day after Labor Day. My son is also starting his senior year. It’s an important year, and getting there is an accomplishment in and of itself.

KalahariNight don’t think I’ve seen you here before, see you at Pibgorn though! Can’t wait to see Monday’s strip! I’m glad to see Lena and igor back!

Johnnydoc I’m not avoiding you! I just get home late these days. Purley coincidental that I now have a social life since my assignment is done. LOL!
I miss you johnny! I’ll try to get home sooner. :-D

Doc Left messages on Garfield and Broom Hilde for you.
Dry I’m surprised you can say HIGH (as in doped up), but not bleeep LAUDE as in WITH HONOURS. LOL
yyyguy about 15 years ago
@Dry he’s at Cornell working on his masters. he’s into history and political science, and spent his winter term at the Washington DC campus.

LOL
Not very yappy today, I see.

Sweet Dreams Terry. Glad you got everyone ready for school.

Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
MoPar Yes I can’t stay up as late either! Work Tmr.

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
DRY Actually after the long day, I’m doing pretty damm good. I thought it would be bad cause I forgot my meds(got to be careful saying what they are-somebody might be listening-LOL) and that results in headaches and other such side effects. But all is fine!!! Thank you.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago

Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago

Hey no one ever answered my ? last night about the NFL network and the games they are showing this year. The regular games they broadcast don’t start until week 10?
yyyguy about 15 years ago
time for this aging hippie (you called it, dry - on the attitude, at least. i was only 10 during the “summer of love” but my high school days were definitely hippie-ish [if that’s a word]) to go to bed. salutations to terry, mopar, and shika as well. and shika, i am a canadian. i gathered from your posts that you are, as well. (seems to me you’re in the province west of mine, which i visited last fall - long before i got online). see you all in the morning or whenever our paths cross next. may fortune smile upon you all. gone.
