anyways, breakfast.
eggs (i have a lid to fit on my frying pan for those who want them basted. sorry, but i forget if it was Marg or Carmy) and i’ve been practising with my spatula.
also bacon (Canadian, naturally) sausage links, and honey glazed ham slices (nice thick ones). for drinks, i have a selection of juices including apple, peach, orange, and cran-razz; plus the usual selection of teas, plus nuclear coffee. enjoy!
Well said yyyguy and if it was me that made you make that comment Tabby, please refer back to one of my last comments from last night. I think a lot of you sweetie and you should always feel comfortable in saying what is on your mind amongst us.
goodnight to marg (i hope the eggs turned out okay), Carmy, cleo, &Dry. i had to go away for a bit, as i was getting a malware alert message. since i wasn’t entirely sure of it, i had to shut down, run my virus scan program, and cross my fingers. scan came up empty, so i think i’m okay. anyhow, just wanted to make sure i could still visit, and i can, so now, to bed!
(Tribe)
for those in need of the good karma. anyone know how Quaby is faring?
YYYGUY I’ll have the same as MARG but with a dozen donuts please, if you have them. I have failed to lose 30 lbs since New Years so have revised my resolution to being fat and happy.. I knew no good could come of them opening a Duncan Donuts 3,212 steps from my door.
okay i was up WAY to late last night. yuck i wanted to be leaving at this time not juts getting up. ill bbl when i can have to go get ready and out the door. will catch up later.
Good morning all. Can I get 2 over easy with a couple of those ham slices please? I went to the grocery for 3 things last night and spent $60…when I got to the store I all of a sudden had a craving for a ham, so that didn’t help. The breakfast slices may though :-)
Well, Doc, you wanted more hours, didn’t you? snerk
Morning tribe. I doubt I’ll be on much today, I’ve got to run errands and other things that are difficult to do while surfing.
Terry & yyyguy - I loaded the rest of the good pictures from our FL trip. There aren’t many, because other than that one afternoon at Key Biscayne, there wasn’t much I wanted to capture for posterity. I mean, who wants a picture of the senior citizens or Wal-Mart? I’ll start another album with the pictures from the museum. They really don’t do justice - to get the full effect, it needs to be seen in person. Eventually, I’ll add my sunsets & other pictures I’ve got that people might like to see.
And I too agree with others who have voiced their opinion about your posts. We here all agree that this is what we have this BT site for. We are supposed to all be friends and that means being there when one needs a shoulder to lean on or a set of ears to listen with. Don’t worry about venting here. That’s what we are here for!
Okay, so first off Cleo it was not your post that made me post my post (did i say that righ? think so) i have been meaning to say something for a while
i appreaicate.(sp) all of you. and the love going on here. thanks you guys and galls.
I posted that comment because i tend to be an anoying winey (sp) brat sometimes and i am sorry. that is what i was trying to say. thanks to all.
Doc Those Stouffers meat loaves and mashed potatoes are pretty good too, although the size of the meat loaves aren’t as big as the box says. So if you have trouble getting the stuffed peppers, I’ll take those! LOL!
okay im out the door. i have an hour to class, it should not take me that long to get ther, but with my car you always leave early. lol pluse i need to find my teacher. see ya latter
Yes, as of this morning I have my computer back. We are going to make an attempt to talk my wife’s son and girlfriend out of driving to Alaska. They were looking at temps and they seemed relatively mild, but last night we found out that it is actually in the minus thirties. It is a very long drive and the Alaska ferry leaves from Bellingham. I don’t know if we will be able to convince them to load the truck on to the ferry and take it, but we will try.
Joy - One year my hubby was asked to take pictures of the “babes” on our FL Christmas trip, by the guys at work. So, he took the camera to the swimming pool at the retirement center and took pictures of the women in their swimming suits. Somehow, that wasn’t quite what his co-workers had in mind! LOL!
With me being 50, some people count me as a senior citizen, and although I think I only look middle-aged, I feel quite old when it comes to my joints & other ailments.
My in-laws’ community only allows residents under 55 if they are live-in caregivers. Spouses have to be at least 55 to live there, and I think the other one has to be over 65 or so. Most of the residents are in their 70’s or older, from the looks of them.
Terry it is about $1000 dollars for car and driver. I am not sure how much for a passenger. Gas is expensive in Canada and he drives a pickup. They were planning on camping and have extremely good sleeping bags, but most campgrounds are closed and -30F is ridiculous, plus it is snowing. It seems risky.
Good morning all!
That is the benefit of fighting through a Wednesday, it basically means that I get to start the weekend now. I do have a few extra things to take care of this weekend, but they won’t be too difficult.
back for a bit, Tribe and a quick comment (quoting someone).
beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes right down to the bone.
however, i’m more like Terry’s attitude. what’s inside is what counts. and i haven’t noted too much here that’s unlikeable.
Rmom where are your photos posted for viewing, again? i know you mentioned it before, but i don’t remember it. personally, i have some on picasa and a bunch on face book - though i know some folks don’t want to be on the latter. i’m not overly thrilled with picasa, and would be interested in checking other photo sharing options.
and Joy, looking 77 does NOT preclude looking beautiful! my current avatar was taken when i was 50
Good Morning/Afternoon All! I guess I didn’t sleep well last night as I had the urge to go back to sleep after the girls went to their schools. Now, I got to get busy here in the casa. Right now we’re getting light rain, with thunderstorms coming in soon and a tornado warning to boot.
Batten down the hatches, Joy!
Good Morning Carmy. I didn’t sleep well either, but I have been fighting this cold like thing anyhow. I figure I’ll probably pass out here before long.
forecast in my neck of the woods is for high temp around the freezing mark with a mix of sun and clouds and breezes of about 12 or 13 mph. it’ll be a bit colder when i leave work, low 20’s, so i’ll probably need to wear sleeves instead just the insulated vest over my tee shirt. pretty boring for winter - not that i’m complaining. (what’s that phrase about being “careful what you wish for?”)
Joy - I think you’re a great person inside. I can’t say I remember your photo. I remember Doc’s and Tabby’s, but that’s about it. Of course, yyyguy is kind enough to provide a more recent avatar, so I don’t have to remember that far back. (My memory isn’t as great as it used to be.)
Now that I hope I’ve extracted my foot from my mouth…
How many pin-up posters are of people in their 70’s or older? I mean, I loved my Mom, and really liked her as a person, but it was never a pretty sight to see her in her swimming suit once I could remember. (She was 35 when I was born, so my memories of her start with her in her 40’s).
I don’t even like to have pictures taken of myself, and so try to be on the other side of the camera as much as possible. However, I realize that for the sake of my kids (and any further grandkids) I need to allow a few pictures of myself to be taken.
Good Afternoon, ((((Tribe)))))–I missed you wacky, yappy guys.
The workshop was good, intensive, but good. I got home after a rather tedious, early morning drive just in time for the funeral set-up. A tough one–an 18-year-old youth. Now I’m busy catching up and probably getting ready for a nap. Maybe there will be spare time this weekend…
((bmonk)) - I know I missed you, but am glad the workshop was good. A funeral of someone so young has got to be one of the hardest things a pastor has to do.
Yes. The program (officially) is over–but now to learn and apply the other 80% of value.
And the Cath. Leadership Institute sounds interested in having me as an editor/sounding board as they update and revisit materials – I’ve already given them half a dozen ideas, some small, some bigger. We will see.
Bmonk - What a homeschooler does on a “snow day” depends on the parent(s). I think some who have mixed education (some homeschooled, some in public or private school) probably don’t do any school, since it is harder to do school when others are around who aren’t there normally. Others probably go ahead and do school like any normal day. The snow may cause some activities to be cancelled. (Most homeschoolers are involved in 1 or more activities away from the home. Cooperative classes with other homeschooled kids, private music lessons, robotics, PE, volunteering, sports, drama, art, …are just some of the possibilites I can think of like that.)
I made a rule when our boys were little that if the snow was significant enough to play in, we’d cancel the rest of our classes, and play outside. If they didn’t want to play in it, then school as normal. We have a great area to go sledding within walking distance (even for this old gal), five acres to make forts, build snowmen, etc. We also did science experiments with snow, like measuring the snow, melting it down, and measuring how much moisture is in the snow. They also learned how the temperature affects the packability of the snow.
BTW, I’m sure it depends on how much snow typically falls in the homeschooled family’s area. The more the snow, the less it probably impacts their schedules.
oh and before i forget… i got an email a while back it was one of those get to know your friends ones. well one of the questions was “are you a strong person’” well i answered no to both physical and emotionaly. well today i can now answer yes to physicaly. i took a volley ball to the face, hit by a pro. player. can you say 2 black eyes? and a major headace
Tabby - I can sympathize. I remember getting hit in the face with a basketball, and I think those are harder. I was wearing glasses at the time, and that made it worse. But I didn’t have braces, and I don’t remember any blood, so you might have a slower recovery period. My family is known for their hard skulls, so that might have helped me as well.
Yes Dry, they are going. They may have some issues at the border. They are driving a pickup that looks like it escaped from a monster truck event. The hood ornament is a yellow and black dragon with 4 heads. The front has a electronic winch and the back is stuffed with camping supplies and axes, shovels, ski equipment, snowboards, tools, etc. Both he and his girlfriend are brilliant, but to look at him, he is a handsome guy who has kind of a mountain man persona. So questions will be asked at the border. If they aren’t allowed to cross they can catch the ferry that night. Both are really interesting and fascinating, lovely people, but both LG’s son and daughter have the same characteristics as *LG*, independent.
Cleo yes I agree, they may have issues at the border! And that is a lovely way to phrase it, INDEPENDENT! On my Italian side of the family, it’s commonly referred to as “BULL HEADED!” :-D
This somehow ended up on the end of yesterday’s comments, so here it is again….
TabbyLynn You know how rarely I post on weeknights, it’s even rarer for me to backtrack on a posting to find out what went wrong. The postings this morning about your tirade prompted me to do just that.
I concur with everyone, Here we can vent. Lord knows I have….remember my tirade about the slowness of the plasma center in getting me into the Rh- program and all the discussion it generated. I’ve tiraded on other things before that I can’t remember…..mostly because I was comforted and reassured by the Tribe but it wasn’t something to generate a ‘what the heck is that’ thread.
Anyway, I have some lovely 15 bean soup available in the BT kitchen, help yourself and see you on Saturday!
Packing has begun for the great Alaska adventure. Furs were displayed. If you are a PETA member avoid this post. LG’s sun has a full buffalo hide that they are going to put at the bottom of their tent for some warmth and his girlfriend bought an antique mink coat that had actually, originally been purchased by Joe Louis. It is interesting watching this all proceed.
Cleo - I hope they take pictures, and journal what happens somehow. This will be a memorable trip, no matter what happens, from the sounds of it. I hope they won’t have trouble with the border crossing (either direction) for the hides. I don’t know the law, but am guessing they may run afoul of some. My hubby had a horrible time the last time he went to Canada, and drove across the border, even though he had a passport. His company told him the next time to fly into the country, that he wouldn’t have near the trouble.
Cleo Sounds interesting! Safe travel for them! Since you weren’t a parent and I am, as much as I HATE THE WORRY THAT GOES WITH IT, and now realize what our parents went thru with us, IT IS WHAT IT IS! And tell LG that all will be well! I tell myself that everytime!
AAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR, ye scurvy dogs! An’ a special good evening ta’ me precious JOY, who be beauteous beyond all bounds!!! An’ a special greetin’ ta ye, MARG!!!
AND IF YOU HAVE ABSCONDED WITH MARG AS WELL, YOU HAVE THE FHIG TO DEAL WITH SIR! I COME PREPARED WITH TWO LONG SWORDS AND A CANNON THAT FIRES LONG RANGE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
ever notice, how when shika and/or joy shows up we have this big attack on them? its funny, i guess our love for them has to just come out all of a sudden when we do see them. we never know when we will see them or not and its just to tell them “i love you and miss you” and to get as much out of them as we can. its sweet.
shika, you should be filling loved right now, i just put you up there with our joy
Speaking of bedtimes, I see mine is approaching fast. I got a fair bit of studying in, and now have been enjoying the recent bickerings of Dry, and the pirate. Think I’ll poke around here for a bit and then head to bed.
Thanks Tabby but I’m more like your grandma!! We let grandkids get away with more, spoil them rotten and then send them home to parents. Cool huh? LOL
I look 77, and I think I’m gorgeous!! Any of you remember when we posted our pics. Well, aren’t I ?? Beauty is In the eye of the beholder and I sure Behold!!
BBL
(((Tabby)))
(((Tribe)))
thanks Joy you can be my grandmother if you want im not gonna argue with you!
you are beautiful and we know it. inside and out!!
Enjoy it Tabby, when summer rolls around, and global warming kicks back in, then I’ll be the comfortable one here in Michigan, and you’ll be boiling in the soup that is Louisiana’s humidity.
It was mentioned that crossing the border with animal hides might be an issue. I forgot that my post might be a bit crazy if not involved in a one on one conversation.
Exactly, Tabby, the humidity is ridiculous in the wetter states. That is why I will move west when I get a little older. I was quite partial to the arid conditions out there the last time I went.
Dry, I know I won’t be making it to the turnover, I have one more lecture to review, and then I am turning in for the night.
okay my song is over. i must call it a night, even though i dont have class till 10 im going in for 9 to bring a friend to class. bc im trying to be a good friend.
JFri are you getting this remarkable weather. I know that it is always warmer there than here, but we have had springlike weather and partially sunny days all week long and this is supposed to be a record breaking year for high temps in January.

forecast in my neck of the woods is for high temp around the freezing mark with a mix of sun and clouds and breezes of about 12 or 13 mph. it’ll be a bit colder when i leave work, low 20’s, so i’ll probably need to wear sleeves instead just the insulated vest over my tee shirt. pretty boring for winter - not that i’m complaining. (what’s that phrase about being “careful what you wish for?”)
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
and now, since i mentioned work, it’s time for me to get ready to go and do it. best to everyone. back when i can.
carmy almost 15 years ago
You stay safe too, Gorgeous!

Good Night Doc. Wow 2 hours since his comment. I have been on a bike ride, did the outdoor garbage/recycling in a t shirt and have made bread.
Well, we couldn’t talk LG’s son into taking the Alaska Ferry, so after tomorrow morning we will have a anxious wait for them to make the long journey.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Hello Cleo–As I figured, I zonked out for a while. I’ll have a prayer in there for LG’s son.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Joy - I think you’re a great person inside. I can’t say I remember your photo. I remember Doc’s and Tabby’s, but that’s about it. Of course, yyyguy is kind enough to provide a more recent avatar, so I don’t have to remember that far back. (My memory isn’t as great as it used to be.) Now that I hope I’ve extracted my foot from my mouth… How many pin-up posters are of people in their 70’s or older? I mean, I loved my Mom, and really liked her as a person, but it was never a pretty sight to see her in her swimming suit once I could remember. (She was 35 when I was born, so my memories of her start with her in her 40’s). I don’t even like to have pictures taken of myself, and so try to be on the other side of the camera as much as possible. However, I realize that for the sake of my kids (and any further grandkids) I need to allow a few pictures of myself to be taken.

Hi Rmom
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Hi Terry! So how do I read your comments on my pic?
bmonk almost 15 years ago
Good Afternoon, ((((Tribe)))))–I missed you wacky, yappy guys.
The workshop was good, intensive, but good. I got home after a rather tedious, early morning drive just in time for the funeral set-up. A tough one–an 18-year-old youth. Now I’m busy catching up and probably getting ready for a nap. Maybe there will be spare time this weekend…
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
((bmonk)) - I know I missed you, but am glad the workshop was good. A funeral of someone so young has got to be one of the hardest things a pastor has to do.
bmonk almost 15 years ago
By the way, what do home schoolers do on Snow Days? Do they still have to go to school?
I remember one snow day, I was supposed to go to an eye appointment, but I couldn’t get there–so I got to go to work…
bmonk almost 15 years ago
Yes. The program (officially) is over–but now to learn and apply the other 80% of value.
And the Cath. Leadership Institute sounds interested in having me as an editor/sounding board as they update and revisit materials – I’ve already given them half a dozen ideas, some small, some bigger. We will see.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Welcome back Bmonk!
Rmom, look at all your pics and reply to it if you see a comment.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Bmonk - What a homeschooler does on a “snow day” depends on the parent(s). I think some who have mixed education (some homeschooled, some in public or private school) probably don’t do any school, since it is harder to do school when others are around who aren’t there normally. Others probably go ahead and do school like any normal day. The snow may cause some activities to be cancelled. (Most homeschoolers are involved in 1 or more activities away from the home. Cooperative classes with other homeschooled kids, private music lessons, robotics, PE, volunteering, sports, drama, art, …are just some of the possibilites I can think of like that.) I made a rule when our boys were little that if the snow was significant enough to play in, we’d cancel the rest of our classes, and play outside. If they didn’t want to play in it, then school as normal. We have a great area to go sledding within walking distance (even for this old gal), five acres to make forts, build snowmen, etc. We also did science experiments with snow, like measuring the snow, melting it down, and measuring how much moisture is in the snow. They also learned how the temperature affects the packability of the snow.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Thanks Terry.
bmonk we missed you. How’s tricks? I know, Trix is for kids.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
BTW, I’m sure it depends on how much snow typically falls in the homeschooled family’s area. The more the snow, the less it probably impacts their schedules.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
okay im home but have alot of work to do.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
oh and before i forget… i got an email a while back it was one of those get to know your friends ones. well one of the questions was “are you a strong person’” well i answered no to both physical and emotionaly. well today i can now answer yes to physicaly. i took a volley ball to the face, hit by a pro. player. can you say 2 black eyes? and a major headace

(((((((((((((((((((((TABBY))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Love ya Girl! I’m so sorry that happened to you!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hi Johnny How was your day? Mine was GOOD!
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Tabby - I can sympathize. I remember getting hit in the face with a basketball, and I think those are harder. I was wearing glasses at the time, and that made it worse. But I didn’t have braces, and I don’t remember any blood, so you might have a slower recovery period. My family is known for their hard skulls, so that might have helped me as well.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Terry - I found your comment, but I don’t know how to respond via photobucket. And it seems to want a password for me to look at your pictures.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
You’re welcome Cleo.
Sorry to hear you got hit with the ball, Tabby.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Rmom, you click on your pic and when it opens, you can leave a comment underneath it.

I saw your answer Rmom.
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Dry, my day has been quiet, but I have to do some studying, got an exam tomorrow. So I will probably be scarce this evening.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago

Quabaculta almost 15 years ago
Isn’t cut and paste wonderful???? Goodnight Tribe

cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Packing has begun for the great Alaska adventure. Furs were displayed. If you are a PETA member avoid this post. LG’s sun has a full buffalo hide that they are going to put at the bottom of their tent for some warmth and his girlfriend bought an antique mink coat that had actually, originally been purchased by Joe Louis. It is interesting watching this all proceed.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Cleo - I hope they take pictures, and journal what happens somehow. This will be a memorable trip, no matter what happens, from the sounds of it. I hope they won’t have trouble with the border crossing (either direction) for the hides. I don’t know the law, but am guessing they may run afoul of some. My hubby had a horrible time the last time he went to Canada, and drove across the border, even though he had a passport. His company told him the next time to fly into the country, that he wouldn’t have near the trouble.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo Sounds interesting! Safe travel for them! Since you weren’t a parent and I am, as much as I HATE THE WORRY THAT GOES WITH IT, and now realize what our parents went thru with us, IT IS WHAT IT IS! And tell LG that all will be well! I tell myself that everytime!

It was mentioned that crossing the border with animal hides might be an issue. I forgot that my post might be a bit crazy if not involved in a one on one conversation.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
After all, you should all be familiar by now with my hide. LOL
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Exactly, Tabby, the humidity is ridiculous in the wetter states. That is why I will move west when I get a little older. I was quite partial to the arid conditions out there the last time I went. Dry, I know I won’t be making it to the turnover, I have one more lecture to review, and then I am turning in for the night.
