Good Morning All. Our company went home for the night and will be going their separate ways tomorrow afternoon. We have been busy. Tonight, is the first night without someone spending the night. But, it has been nice. My wife’s and my families got to meet and it is always nice having family over. I love my wife’s family and my mother in law.
One of LilG’s brothers is an artist for Disney and I was telling him about gocomics. We have a page a day calendar of Argyle Sweater and everyone was getting a kick out of reading some previous few days worth of torn off cartoons. I started telling him about some of the great cartoons here that you do not see anywhere else and he was making a list. We have got a great thing going here with so many talented cartoonists.
Hello Grog & Carmy. It really did go well. We also have had some fabulous meals and everyone is so complimentary as they eat, which makes us feel like the work we have put into dinner goes appreciated.
I, fortunately, have missed these spammers. Their comments have been removed before I arrive.
Cleo, that’s so cool about your BIL. My girls love the Disney movies, mostly the older movies. We have a bunch on DVD. You”re right about the toons here. Some of them I had never heard of until I saw them here.
I believe this is the 3rd strike for the spammer, they’re trying to sell stuff.
cleo they are not on all the pages…yet, but on the ones I’ve seen them on, they’ve been flagged. I think the first one I saw was on Non Sequitur, which is near the end of my run. I back-tracked and found more on strips that I’d already posted on.
Hello Carmy, Grog & JFri. Yes, I did find the spammer. Since I have been so busy, this is the first comic I even think of reading and as I began to make my way through the comics I saw the post at C&H. How are you all? We have had cold mornings. It was 28 this morning, but we have had two beautiful sunny days.
Good morning The sleep fairy seems to have other things to do tonight - but I still missed the breakfast talk. I will have fruit, bacon and some Earl Grey tea, please.
Should not have started with Ziggy and worked my way forward - maybe would have been on time.
Yup, the company is now a thing of the past. LilG is on her way out the door to head to her mom’s house. Both her brothers leave today. It has been busy, but fun having everybody here.
Quiet under the BT, must be pretty weather in a lot of places. Me, well, I’m on kitchen duty. But my son has done some work already, and I’m working on the large counter. I should have a lot of it done by the time he gets home.
Stormy’s still with me. She slept with me last night and managed not to use my bed as a litterbox. She actually went to the litterbox. She’s eating a bit better, too. But I’m not stupid, I’m keeping her comfy and loved
Got to toddle off, ain’t getting nothing done sitting on my but t.
Hi, Doc! The weather here is great. Not too hot, not too cold. Enough wind to keep the majority of the bugs hunkered down, but not enough to blow the furniture off of our deck. My redbud tree and my lilac bushes are in full bloom. Guess it is time to download a picture & change the avatar.
San Diego is cancelled. Mom is in the hospital and needs a cardiac cath tomorrow. So, may be scarce for that reason. Needless to say, can’t go to the other coast with her not feeling well. She’s upset that I’m not going, but I told her she matters more. For those of you who do, please keep her in your prayers. Thanks
Kab - It has been a beautiful weekend for KS, hasn’t it? There is a lot of fields being burnt off around here. I’ve been tempted to do that to our acreage, since some of it is still prairie grass. But with vinyl siding, I rather fear it might not be such a great idea. I almost got out the mower for the first time yesterday, but didn’t, and spent the time cleaning my car instead. (Rain-X & vacuuming)
I hope your surgery goes well. My hubby’s very glad he went through his neck surgery with Dr. Abay, as he isn’t in pain, and can do a lot of things now he couldn’t because of the pain.
Cleo–The next door neighbor couple are older and have both had strokes. They don’t move around so freely anymore. When we cook out, Wolfangil always makes enough to take over to them. One less dinner they need to think about cooking.
Gee, looks like I missed some fun! Good Evening, Tribe, especially cleo, Terry, Shika, Jdoc, Rmom, Quaby & Kab Bush (and Welcome to the last!)
I’ve been scarce because I’ve been so busy, and tired with this dern bronchitis too…Now I’ve got to get ready for a Spring Workshop on Community Prayer until Thursday…
Ah well, someday it will stop–and then they can schedule my funeral…
Cleo–They are so nice to us and especially James. He takes their garbage to the curb, keeps their grass cut and the walks shoveled. And my automobile repairs are not a problem with them. I couldn’t ask for better neighbors.
bunnyface - I *do* hope you get better! It is wise to always be ready to die, but don’t forsake living in the meantime.
I’ve heard it say it is better to wear out, than to rust out. Dad worked harder than many men 40 years younger up until he got pneumonia. That’s how we knew he was really sick - he had the opportunity to do some work & didn’t.
Terry - Yum, sounds good! Especially because I’m trying to decide what to have for supper. Sounds like some great neighbors - both ways.
bunny I hear you. My mother’s first cousin is a nun, 80 + now, still sharp, still working, thou not near as much as before. She still likes her occasional beer, too, at family get togethers, LOL!
Dry - Our local fire department is volunteer, but they seem to be quite experienced with grass fires. We’ve had a few unplanned grass fires on our place in the past, but with a couple of garden hoses, we managed to get them under control. I’ve learned to keep a hose handy when burning our trash, just in case. Hopefully my hubby’s learned his lesson about not burning the weeds off when I think it is too windy to burn trash in our barrels.
LuvH8 - Got the taxes done, just waiting to take them to the post office tomorrow morning. (Hate doing e-filing, because you have to give them more info than on the forms. Had a friend who was an IRS auditor, and he advised against it for the same reason.)
My hubby does enjoy cooking, as long as it isn’t precise stuff like baking. He doesn’t want to measure or clean up.
Dry - I don’t know if any get paid or not. I think we have EMS now who do, but I don’t get involved in local politics (or on the local grapevine). Yes, that is taken from my kitchen. Just opened the window, and leaned out.
Lonewolf ~ The weather is gloomy, the sun comes out just long enough to tease and then it is gloomy again. (sad face)
I haven’t done too much today. I need to finish baking the chocolate chip cookies. Mainly cleaning (Blechy)
A LARGE DEPOSIT IN THE BANK FOR ANYONE WHO NEEDS IT.
As I may have mentioned before, I am a serious packrat. We had a lot of stuff stored in a canvas shelter, but the last windstorm a couple of days ago just shredded it. A lot of stuff was covered in snow and paper stuff is ruined. I meant to go through it before now and get rid of most of it. Now I guess I have no choice. So I guess there is an upside to that storm. Intending to get rid of stuff and actually
LuvH8 - It is nice when we’re cooking a big meal, because I can prepare things on one counter, and he watches & stirs the things on top of the stove or in the oven.
((((((((((((Saucy)))))))))))) my mother had that done about 18? years ago, Everything went well and medical technology is much better now.
Mom was an RN, so of course she knew the procedure. It’s true what the say, doctors and nurses make the worst patients. They know too much, but that also helps, I think, because they know if those taking care of them are competent or not,.
LuvH8 - Chocolate chip cookies are probably what I bake the most often. Mostly because it is the easiest, and widely enjoyed. I use sticks of real butter, and an extra cup of flour to the Toll House recipe. Underbake, so they are just starting to brown. I’ve gotten lots of compliments on those.
Lonewolf, she turns 82 next month, you might be able to snatch them faster. If you do I hope you can survive the guilt. (Catholic + mother + grandmother + great grandmother + little old lady = massive guilt)
Dry, the cauliflower was pretty good, but I think I’ll experiment with the ratios. I want to try decreasing the oil a bit and increasing the vinegar and tobasco.
And I’ll try adding bits of red and green bell pepper for some additional flavors.
Fellow Baby I meant to ask you earlier how you liked it. I gave you the original recipe, but I DID cut back on the oil, and I told you before, I added a 1/2 cup of tabasco or Frank’s Original when I make it. Never thought of adding the extras in my own mixture, but I just may add jalapenos the next time, too! Thanks for the idea!
bunnyface! Good to see you. Never fear. We haave a nun in our convent who is 105 years old. She comes to chapel every day in a wheel chair, wearing the black and white habit she’s worn all her life.
(Well, I’m sure she’s had it replaced once or twice, it doesn’t look THAT old.)
Dry It may as well be hemorroid cream. It’s nothing I want. It’s not even real V.S. I used to get great clothes from them, like jeans and tops. Whovever this spammer is is doing V.S. a dis-service.
Unfortunately, most of the comments on C&H relate to the spam.
Dry, I always like to improvise to suit my own tastes. For example, any recipe that calls for white wine, I substitute vodka. I love good red wines of the Rhone region of France and certain Austrailian reds. White wine will never again touch these lips - not even in cooking.
Of course that applies to all kind of ingredients.
You wouldn’t believe how long it took me to create what I consider to be the perfect chile, but these days I make very little of it. While living in Edmonton, the friends I made looked forward to the Superbowl parties largely for my chile.
Bidding a quick goodnight to the Tribe as I withdraw some Karma to help me get through this week’s PIP, otherwise known as working under the microscope.
Hi, Shika!
All this cookie talk makes me want to do some baking. Alas, I still have more estate work to do before I can switch to the more enjoyable tasks.
Well, time to get my hubby to bed. See you tomorrow!
I’m just fine this evening, LW18. Was it homemade chili?
Grog, when I make chili, I often freeze some of it so that I can have it later. That way I can make a big batch once in a while, but still have homemade chili whenever I want.
It’s too bad there’e no one on duty for all the day’s flags. I seem to recall the same problem with BULLDOG during the holiday season. His comments and account didn’t disappear until a workday, unfortunately
Dry, :^D, with that thought in mind, it might work. Mondays are my worst problem though. I’ll especially keep that in mind tomorrow. GOOD NIGHT, FELLOW BABY!
Hello all. Gosh, I get a chance to make a comment and then something comes up and I don’t get back here for hours. Tomorrow everything should be back to normal. LilG’s son is heading to Seattle to prepare the boat for fishing in Alaska. It has been really nice having him around. In the entire time that I have been with his mom, he has lived elsewhere and only been around for a day or two, so I have had a chance to sit and have in depth conversations with him and appreciate just how nice a man that he is.
Hello Carmy, it seems like ages since I have talked to you. I have loved having our company. I am blessed with wonderful relatives on both sides of our family.
Cleo, that truly is a blessing. My father’s parents divorced and both of them remarried and had more children. Of course not everyone got along, it was crazy. I do not miss that at all!
Carmy and Cleo It’s funny, when my grandmother died on my mom’s side, years ago, my grandfather put his kids in an orphanage, then remarried a woman with 5 kids of her own. Long story, but when my mom and her siblings became adults, they became very close to two of their stepbrothers and the one stepsister.
Cleo and Carmy, I barely knew the man. Met him once or twice as a kid. Only one of his natural children went to his funeral, my oldest aunt. My grandmothers sister with 6 kids of her own, (they all came thru Ellis Island from Italy, BTW), worked to get each of the kids out of the orphanage one by one. 2 got out at age 16 thru arranged marriages. My mom was lucky enough to get out without that, and went on to nursing school after working as a maid while she was in high school and with her older and only brothers help.
I have always had a close relationship with grandparents and aunts and uncles. It has only been in the last few years, when these people have passed on that the relationships have begun to weaken.

Hi rmom! Good you din’t burn that field off, had a neighbor do that once! Fire trucks all over the place! :-)
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
What have you been up to today, LuvH8
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hi Rmom, I hope you got your taxes finished. Does your husband like to cook?
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
LuvH8–There is a post on page 2 from Kab.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Dry - Our local fire department is volunteer, but they seem to be quite experienced with grass fires. We’ve had a few unplanned grass fires on our place in the past, but with a couple of garden hoses, we managed to get them under control. I’ve learned to keep a hose handy when burning our trash, just in case. Hopefully my hubby’s learned his lesson about not burning the weeds off when I think it is too windy to burn trash in our barrels.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
LuvH8 - Got the taxes done, just waiting to take them to the post office tomorrow morning. (Hate doing e-filing, because you have to give them more info than on the forms. Had a friend who was an IRS auditor, and he advised against it for the same reason.) My hubby does enjoy cooking, as long as it isn’t precise stuff like baking. He doesn’t want to measure or clean up.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
rmom ours are volunteer as well. Although, I’m not sure if the Fire Chiefs get paid a stipend or not.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
nice avatar rmom, just noticed it! Your yard?
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I looked again, I still don’t see it.
Saucy I hope your mom feels better soon.
Bunnyface ~ Geesh! Get better already! I’m not sure what you mean by “Keep death daily before our eyes”, the mental people ) : at that.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Dry - I don’t know if any get paid or not. I think we have EMS now who do, but I don’t get involved in local politics (or on the local grapevine). Yes, that is taken from my kitchen. Just opened the window, and leaned out.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Good evening, Rmom. Lonewolf, FELLOW BABY, bunnyface and anyone else I may have missed!
saucy, my thoughts are with you!**
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Hello, Grog!!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Dry, are you referring to clothing when it snows?
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Hi, Grog!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
That’s weird that you can’t see the post, LuvH8.
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Lonewolf ~ The weather is gloomy, the sun comes out just long enough to tease and then it is gloomy again. (sad face) I haven’t done too much today. I need to finish baking the chocolate chip cookies. Mainly cleaning (Blechy)
Rmom ~ That is my favorite kind of cooking!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
I hope there are few extra cookies! :^)

Hi again, TRIBEA LARGE DEPOSIT IN THE BANK FOR ANYONE WHO NEEDS IT.
TOSSINGit is not the same.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Lots of cookies for you, LuvH8. Must be this week’s batch for Thom.
I think I missed you, cleo. Good evening, sir!
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
LuvH8 - It is nice when we’re cooking a big meal, because I can prepare things on one counter, and he watches & stirs the things on top of the stove or in the oven.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Yes Cleo that is what I am referring to! Lol!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Hi Serena.
Good to see you!
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
You all (including Thom) would have to fight my Gma for these cookies. Good luck with that!
Lonewolf ~ maybe whatever Lewreader has is contagious?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Just went back and read some more comments.
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
You missed me!
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
LuvH8 - Chocolate chip cookies are probably what I bake the most often. Mostly because it is the easiest, and widely enjoyed. I use sticks of real butter, and an extra cup of flour to the Toll House recipe. Underbake, so they are just starting to brown. I’ve gotten lots of compliments on those.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
That’s quite alright, LuvH8. I’m not fighting ANY grandmas for cookies. (I’m the cool, calm and collected type.) Heheh!
Besides my daughter is making my favorites right now……….. oatmeal raisin.

You talking to me, LuvH8?. Of course I missed you! (whther you were talking to me or not)

Rmom ~ An extra cup of flour? What does that do?
Lonewolf, she turns 82 next month, you might be able to snatch them faster. If you do I hope you can survive the guilt. (Catholic + mother + grandmother + great grandmother + little old lady = massive guilt)
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Heheh, LuvH8. You’re absolutely right about the guilt for sneaking them from her. Just couldn’t do it!

Dry, the cauliflower was pretty good, but I think I’ll experiment with the ratios. I want to try decreasing the oil a bit and increasing the vinegar and tobasco.
And I’ll try adding bits of red and green bell pepper for some additional flavors.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
LuvH8 - The extra flour makes them thicker, instead of so flat.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Fellow Baby I meant to ask you earlier how you liked it. I gave you the original recipe, but I DID cut back on the oil, and I told you before, I added a 1/2 cup of tabasco or Frank’s Original when I make it. Never thought of adding the extras in my own mixture, but I just may add jalapenos the next time, too! Thanks for the idea!
Any word on those discs yet?

Hi Gang!

Hi, Shika.

Lonewolf & Grog message for each of you on Birdbrains.
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hello Shika, sorry the Gma is on a cookie craving thing, I am not even risking eating the broken one.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hi Terry
Dry It may as well be hemorroid cream. It’s nothing I want. It’s not even real V.S. I used to get great clothes from them, like jeans and tops. Whovever this spammer is is doing V.S. a dis-service.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Grog I think many people like to improvise. It’s always good to start with the original recipe, and then tweak it to your own taste.

Hi, Shika! All this cookie talk makes me want to do some baking. Alas, I still have more estate work to do before I can switch to the more enjoyable tasks. Well, time to get my hubby to bed. See you tomorrow!

Hello LW18, how are you this evening?
ladywolf17 almost 15 years ago
I am doing marvelous! Thank you for asking LuvH8, and how are you doing tonight?
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
LW18, I take it you liked your chili?
I won’t be makin’ another chili until football season (sigh!).
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Good Night, Rmom
Hello, Ladywolf.
ladywolf17 almost 15 years ago
Yes indeed I love my chili. Hello ♠Lonewolf♠. It’s good to see you again.
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I’m just fine this evening, LW18. Was it homemade chili?
Grog, when I make chili, I often freeze some of it so that I can have it later. That way I can make a big batch once in a while, but still have homemade chili whenever I want.
ladywolf17 almost 15 years ago
I’m finishing up hockey season on T.V.
Looking forward to the playoffs.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
LuvH8 So do I. I make one at the beginning of football season…and one on Superbowl day….and bdee, bdee, that’s all folks!
ladywolf17 almost 15 years ago
Yes LuvH8 It was homemade chili that my dad made.
ladywolf17 almost 15 years ago
I need to do some cleaning up right now, So I’ll be back on when the comic updates.
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I like homemade chili with onions, cheese, tomatoes & tortilla chips! (Sigh) Hungry now.
Lot’s of Luv. See everyone later!
(I’ll try praying for everyone. If you don’t ‘see’ me again, it’ll be Bunnyface’s fault I spontaneously combusted.)

It’s too bad there’e no one on duty for all the day’s flags. I seem to recall the same problem with BULLDOG during the holiday season. His comments and account didn’t disappear until a workday, unfortunately

bikini005 is back!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Well, you wouldn’t think that you would normally need someone here at a comics site on a weekend.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
True, Lonewolf, but the spam now rages on with no way to stop it.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
I know Grog. Probably why they picked the weekend to inject their garbage here.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Well, I grow weary of flagging and tired enough to hit the pillows, Lonewolf. See you on the flip side in daylight!

GOODNIGHT FELLOW BABY! THINK OF VENUS’S WINDCHIMES AND YOU WILL SLEEP WELL, SIR!
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Dry, :^D, with that thought in mind, it might work. Mondays are my worst problem though. I’ll especially keep that in mind tomorrow. GOOD NIGHT, FELLOW BABY!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Hello all. Gosh, I get a chance to make a comment and then something comes up and I don’t get back here for hours. Tomorrow everything should be back to normal. LilG’s son is heading to Seattle to prepare the boat for fishing in Alaska. It has been really nice having him around. In the entire time that I have been with his mom, he has lived elsewhere and only been around for a day or two, so I have had a chance to sit and have in depth conversations with him and appreciate just how nice a man that he is.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Goodnight Grog!
carmy almost 15 years ago
Dry, are you saying goodnight too?
carmy almost 15 years ago
Hi Cleo! I’m glad you were able to visit more with LilG’s son!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Hello Carmy, it seems like ages since I have talked to you. I have loved having our company. I am blessed with wonderful relatives on both sides of our family.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Cleo, that truly is a blessing. My father’s parents divorced and both of them remarried and had more children. Of course not everyone got along, it was crazy. I do not miss that at all!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Carmy No I’ll be around for a bit! Wanted to see you and Cleo! Figured Cleo would be around in all his royal clothing! :-D
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo It is very nice that you all get along so well! Of course, good food, good wine, and a good conversation breaks all barriers! :-)
carmy almost 15 years ago
Cleo in his royal clothing, LMBO!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I have a ceremony that you could refer to as the removal of the royal robes. Some just call it tossing the covers off when you get up in the morning.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Carmy and Cleo It’s funny, when my grandmother died on my mom’s side, years ago, my grandfather put his kids in an orphanage, then remarried a woman with 5 kids of her own. Long story, but when my mom and her siblings became adults, they became very close to two of their stepbrothers and the one stepsister.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Dry, I find it odd to put your kids in an orphanage then to marry someone with 5 kids. I would have issues with my grandfather after that. Did you?
carmy almost 15 years ago
Dry, ditto what Cleo just asked.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo and Carmy, I barely knew the man. Met him once or twice as a kid. Only one of his natural children went to his funeral, my oldest aunt. My grandmothers sister with 6 kids of her own, (they all came thru Ellis Island from Italy, BTW), worked to get each of the kids out of the orphanage one by one. 2 got out at age 16 thru arranged marriages. My mom was lucky enough to get out without that, and went on to nursing school after working as a maid while she was in high school and with her older and only brothers help.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I have always had a close relationship with grandparents and aunts and uncles. It has only been in the last few years, when these people have passed on that the relationships have begun to weaken.
