I ran into the same problem as Calvin once. Ran away and took my dog with me. The dog cut his foot on broken glass, I didn’t know where I was going. The whole plan, what there was of one, fell apart. I came back home. That taught me that I really had to plan and organize before I acted. Oh Yeah, and all these years later the planet still sucks.
No, the planet doesn’t suck. I remember brown smog and acid rain from all the pollution, Rivers that were toxic and trash all around. The worlds a lot better than it was. If you don’t find it a lovely place to be then maybe it’s time to get out and see more of this world. I think that we have become more responsible and technology has improved to were it can do more, cleaner.
The fact that Calvin has to think about it and still can’t come up with an answer tells you the plan is doomed to fail. You gotta know where you are going and how you’re going to get there. Then decide to go.
*I ran away once too. My mom helped me pack my little bag and escorted me out the door. I ‘m thinking” well, I’ll show her, if she doesn’t care, then I am gonna run away!” I walked around the block a couple of times, it started to get dark and I went back home. She was standing at the door and when I went in she said “How was your trip?”
Once a political cartoonist, always a political cartoonist.
Usually he keeps it off his sleeve where it’s this conspicuous.
Often it’s a double-entendre that I barely notice - and so probably often it’s a subtle double-entendre that I miss.
When Watterson syndicated his political cartoons almost daily, I was a die-hard devotee. I often wonder what great cartoons the world lost when he quit trying to keep up with both that and Calvin, but I’m glad he cut back before burning out entirely.

He’s going somewhere that’s not here nor there.

Exactly, Hobbes was just ASKING. It is those who pollute the earth that are the load to have around.

That’s what happens, Calvin, when an elegant theory gets mugged by a brutal gang of facts.

Bargrove, C& H wasn’t syndicated until 1985. How would I determine when a C&H was originally published?

The kitchen is the next stop, there’s no way Hobbes is leaving without proper food supplies.

Calvin wasn’t prepared–else he would have gotten the spaceship or time-machine ready!

Get lost, Hobbes. What does reasoning have to do with anything??
musicnut1986 about 15 years ago
Calvin the subjectivist. Hobbes the objectivist.

The question is: does the planet suck or is that gravity?
Thirty years ago they were dealing with the creation of alternate universes created by mass so maybe Watterson was going someplace with this.
