Good morning everybody and HAPPY EARTH DAY! I am feeling SO sorry for Calvin I sure hope that beanie gets there by tomorrow.

Maybe santa clause came out of vacation and dropped the beanie down your chimney!

The impatience of youth… although, I know of some adults that are just as impatient when the new gizmos come out!

If you replaced Calvin with Charlie Brown and Hobbes with Linus in this strip, you’d have a perfectly valid episode of “Peanuts.”

I’d reverse those two roles (as a rule, Linus talks more and talks more impatiently than Charlie Brown does), but hey, whatever floats your boat…:)

For a small child a week can seem like eternity.

Look at Hobbes in the third panel. He looks very thoughtful, not sneaky; for once I don’t think he’s trying to pull a fast one on Calvin.

Not sure I see the Peanuts analogy. Charlie Brown’s frustrations usually ran along the lines of not getting things that should have been within his grasp: winnning one ball game, kicking the football just once, and getting just one Joe Shlabotnik after spending $5 on baseball cards!

Only thing I will say is that when it arrives Calvin will be a typical young kid (probably for the first time in his life). Not long now, for us anyway.

ronaldmundy had it right. It’s “dumb” not “numb” that best describes Calvin here. Susie would never have such unrealistic expectations. Neither would Hobbes.

This parallels my hopes and expectations rekindling the relationship with my ex-girlfriend.

And I’m just as ‘dumb’.

I just love how calm Hobbes remains through all this.

Good case of history repeating itself….within an hour.

Hobbes got Calvin going again Susie could be meaner than Hobbes and bring poor Calvin to a total state numbness .

What if it NEVER arrives? What if someone robs the mailman’s truck? What if one day Calvin notices the mailman wearing a beanie cap?

I doubt many of you remember the days when, if you had a post office box, the postmaster would put mail in it TWICE a day – once in the morning, once late in the afternoon. Soon, we’ll be lucky to get it five times a week.

I had one, too, that I loved, but over the years the rubber deteriorated. About 15 years ago, I ordered one on line from someone who was selling one. That one was cracking, too. I doubt that there are any originals left that are in good shape. Google Froggy the Gremlin, and see what you can come up with. Maybe there are newer versions available.

So, what are the odds that it comes tomorrow? I’m about ready to go look this up in a collection but as we’ve been saying, The anticipation is the best part. I actually ran home from work to see if the GoComics mailman had come twice! I am as gullible as Calvin.
