Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Oddly, Marg, I have no desire to be first. I do like to greet others who share my love for this comic, and you happen to be one fo these people.
But if I do not comment now, I must wait until after work, and that is 15 hours henceforth.
My life is not my own. So I return to Calvin and Hobbes, to remind me that my life is only as small as my imagination.
Ever part you play in this Marg, I would not have anyone be unkind to Grog, who seems to be a very civil soul, and for to whoever deleted the offending comment, I owe thanks.
That third panel is great. It looks like he could be thinking, âWhat have I done? Maybe Iâve gone too far.â Turns out that same look means, âThis is better than I had dared to hope.â
I heard that quote from Groucho before I knew the story behind it and thought it quite funny. After I learned the story, itâs more bittersweet than funny. Groucho had made a considerable amount of money and longed to be a member of some exclusive New York social club, but the club turned him down because he was Jewish. When he was later offered membership in a social club (I think it was in California), he made that comment.
I would feel sorry for Susie in these strips, but like real-life women, Susie goes for the knucklehead who treats her like dirt instead of a guy who would treat her well. Sheâs got nobody to blame but herself.
thebird55,
âAll your works shall praise you, O LORD;
and your saints shall bless you.â - Psalm 145:10
âYou are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for you have created all things, and for YOUR PLEASURE they are and were created.â - Revelation 4:11
Calvin seems to think that everything was created for his pleasure.
frank corona said,
ââŚ.thatâs really going back!â
âBack, back, back, back, backâŚGone! - Chris Berman
âGoneâ - Ferlin Husky
âThanks for the Memoriesâ - Bob Hope and Shirley Ross
Susie has âgoneâ and she wonât have fond ârecollectionsâ of this encounter.
xwsmithx said: I would feel sorry for Susie in these strips, but like real-life women, Susie goes for the knucklehead who treats her like dirt instead of a guy who would treat her well. Sheâs got nobody to blame but herself.
Please donât lump all us âreal-life womenâ in the same category. Maybe some women prefer to be treated like dirt by their husbands/boyfriends because they either just like the âbad boysâ and canât help themselves or maybe deep down, they donât think they deserve any better than what theyâre getting. I wasnât a glutton for that kind of punishment. I held out for the good guy and left all the bad boys that would treat a woman like cr@p alone ⌠and Iâve been happily married for almost 22 years because of it!
Itâs funny the people quoting the bible at Calvin and Hobbes: Besides the fact that they are fictitious children (and stuffed tiger), they are also named after two of the great religious philosophers of all time. see what they had to say on the subject.
Thanks, billidiâIâve often wondered why Iâd be missing some of the comments referred to by others. Donât understand yet. (Iâm still new at this.)
I rather thought his âreverse psychologyâ backfired on him. I remember those games as a kid. Usually the more you make it secret and say they arenât worthy, the more they want to join. In this case, IMHO, the more Calvin says itâs secret and exclusive, the more he wants Susie to question and try to be a partâŚthat is why in the third panel he pauses because his plan did not work. Itâs all a ruse, Calvin is interested in Susie and does things like this to make sure he gets her attention, even if itâs for the wrong reasons. But heâs not allowed to be overt about his âinterestâ in her until he reaches 7th grade or so.
Lets keep all âcommercialâ messages out of a comics blog. Weâre not buying anything from lili245 or her post
b2bjordans.com. Maybe lili245 was trying to become a member of Calvin & Hobbsâ new âG.R.O.S.S.â club.
Sorry Lili, you canât join up!
That is our regular spammer. âItâ goes by many different names but itâs always the same site. I wasted a lot of time and effort commenting on it. Iâve decided itâs best to flag and otherwise ignore it.

So how is Calvin going to get rid of slimy girls (it is redundant, I know)? He is just shooing away Susie not getting rid of her.

Groucho, most likely, justly inherited this wonderful quote from his fellow humorist, Mark Twain. Either that or he re-invented it on his own.
In any case he certainly used it aptly.
BTW I envy Hobbes smile.
