I finally decided to find out what “lumbago” means, and the Amer. Heritage Dict. 4th Ed. says “A painful condition of the lower back, as one resulting from muscle strain or a slipped disk.” So Broomie is saying her back hurts twice?
JoeAllenDoty, here’s an honest question: how come you can suspend disbelief so readily, in the forest of BroomHilda, but not in the locales of 2 Cows and a Chicken? The one is just as surreal in its own way as the other.
So I checked it out, because I have never looked at that strip before. And as far as I am concerned, 2 Cows and a Chicken is not really seriously trying to be surreal. I don’t think they are as creative as the author of BroomHilda.
No way could BroomHilda not be speaking in an Irish accent. I have a very good ear, and I heard(saw?) it very clearly. (I guess I have a visual ear too.)
Is someone saying that BroomHilda lives with TROLLS? Do they mean Erwin (Irwin?) and Nerwin)? But those two are much too cute to be trolls!

Her nose runs and her feet smell? She’s built upside down! Old, old, old…

You’re forgiven, Steve.
You’re welcome, Marg.
You’re such a lovable phoney, Broomie!

Why bother.

Why not bother? When you’re a vulture and live with a 1500-year-old witch and two trolls, any excuse for a change of pace is a good excuse.

I look at Broomie’s dialogue in the second panel, and I can’t help hearing an Irish accent. Of course, she is green…

Yesterday, Rakkav asked the following question:

Anyway, that answers the question for me.

@Margaritem, what tango dancers are you referring to? I didn’t see any.
