There’s still one around?

Or have the grand kids find an online store that sells antique radio parts (antique is usually defined as an item over 50 years old).

I think I recognize that tube. It’s a real radio tube, pentode, I think. (Hah. ‘pentode’ isn’t even in my spell checker) Just googled it. Yup, pentagrid frequency converter tube, circa 1948. and you can still get them, apparently.

This Plugger must be my PackRat Dad!

Our corner drugstore had a tube tester for radio and TV tubes which they kept in stock, saving a trip to the appliance repair store.

The only thing I miss about that era electronically was that some of the radios and TVs were really attractive pieces of furniture.

Pieces of furniture is right. Usually one inoperative TV was used as a table for another. O, those were the good old days.

The tv on top of another tv is one of Jeff Foxworthy’s ways to tell if you’re a redneck! Maybe that’s just another name for Plugger??

The terms “plugger” and “redneck” are not equivalent – but there is substantial demographic overlap.

Yes, you can still get them along with 6SJ7’s and a host of others.
