Take a look at what Detroit is considering - classes of 62, cutting schools by half…The place looks like something out of Mad Max. I love that town and I’m very sad to see it being destroyed like this.

Whitney Houston, Barbara Streisand, Eartha Kitt, Cher … care to add or correct anything?

It’s made more difficult when you have to take into consideration Ms.Cambell’s definition of successful.

I tried to answer before I even considered the truth of Darkforce and kreole’s “Who cares?” responses.

Campbell gets one more week and then she’s done with teaching forever!

The best school in Georgia is a private school in Atlanta that spends less than half per pupil than the public schools do. “Underfunded?” I don’t think that’s the problem.

The best school in Georgia, which is a public school, is John S. Davidson, located in Augusta, GA. It is currently ranked #1 in the state of Georgia and was the #1 school in Georgia from 1996 - 2003. In addition, it has consistently placed in the top 100 schools in Newsweeks “America’s Best High Schools.”

In 2004, in was recognized with the “Blue Ribbon School of Excellence” award by the US Department of Education, the highest award a school can receive.

I know as I am a parent of a student that graduated from Davidson in 2000. It takes parents working with the school to achieve the desired results, regardless of funding (In Richmond County we are one of the lowest funded school districts in the state.)

Apparently Campbell doesn’t understand the concept of teaching. You teach the material first, THEN test them on it! (And I’m glad to see Gordo is too intelligent to know the answer to that pointless question…)
