No, Lars wasn’t green. It was his card that was green. All aliens are ‘sposed to have one of those.

Jeffrey should have said that Lars is from Los Angeles. (Lars is an L.A. -an (sounds like alien) someone from L.A.)

Just because Lars is living on Mars now doesn’t mean that he’s originally from Mars.

wndrwrthg and gmartin997–how do you know that Lars is from Mars? (excuse the coincidental rhyme)

Remember Star Trek’s “Assignment Earth” episode (the one with Robert Lansing playing Gary Seven–the one human whom Spock could not subdue with neck-pinch )

NebulousRikulau, where does it even state that Lars is current-resident on Mars?

Mr. Miller - please end this Mars nonsense. It is wrong on so many levels.

Jeffrey is obviously supposed to represent the voice of science through reason and evidence, yet in this Mars thing he has apparently bought into the hoax that has been pervading the internet recently. He is acting more like Danae’s character than his own.

Mars is NOT going to have a close encounter with Earth in August. Indeed, Mars will be 60% closer to Earth in January than in August.

Mars will never (hopefully) appear as large as the full moon in our skies. If it does, both planets and their moons will be destroyed by the enormous gravitational and tidal forces that would result.

Astronomers do NOT measure distances to Mars from Earth in light years - to the Oort cloud maybe, or to the nearest star - but not Mars.

And on and on it goes. Please abandon this scientific fiasco and do some actual research before you damage the credibility of real scientists further.

This is so unlike all of the rest of your work, which is a cut above the mundane. Please go back to what you do so well.

    Thank you.

Be patient. It will be explained later this week. And there will be more revelations in two weeks.

Another thing to keep in mind… IT’S A CARTOON!

rsb24: Were Mr. Wiley a SCIENTIST, then you could fault him on scientific matters. But as he is a CARTOONIST (and a bleeep good one too), he may do whatever he wishes. We, the readers have already suspended our beief in the rational world and have accepted A) A talking horse and dog B) Giant lobsters invading Maine C) A teleportation device built by a child D) And a myriad of other things that have occurred within the strip Mr. Wiley has never presented himself as a scientist, so lighten up. After all it is just a comic. Oh come on! I can’t say d a r n?

I can’t believe how many people like to over analyze a cartoon. It isn’t like we are in a science class here. Appreciate what is before your eyes and accept as funny, or not. But leave it as it is. Sheesh!! Oh, an with a name like Lars, he most likely is an odd looking Swede.

TO: rsb24 RE: Your Scientific Treatise

Are you suggesting these fictional comic kids don’t know what they’re talking about when it comes to scientific facts??

Wow, if that’s true, I’m outta here! Like you, I read comics to LEARN!—not laugh.

I think Wiley should be publicly flogged for cracking me up.

Yes, but for most of us these points are within our realm of experience. This comic’s subject however…

Hey, Jeffry, when you get to Mars, look up some old friends of mine, John Carter and his beautiful wife, Deja Thorus. They can show you around. Take a sword with you, and don’t wander too far from Helium, unless you take somebody like Tars Tarkus with you…

Hey RSB24. Chill. This is just a comic…intended to entertain and provide us with chuckles, not facts in science. Even Star Trek wasn’t scientifically accurate, but it was entertaining and occasionally funny.

I wonder what the world would be like if all the people who get overly antsy about comic strips decided instead to channel their energy into something profitable for the human race and/or the environment. I suppose we’ll never know, because it’s easier to be lazy and rant about comics and people generally are lazy lumps of biomass.
