Well, at Arkansas State (NOT a BCS school), the state troopers were off-duty former ASU players; the one road trip I remember them taking was when A-State played Bear Bryant’s Alabama squad. They rode the bus with the players, coaches, and broadcasters. No money from the state police budget; the troopers were basically there to watch the game!
