The color doesn’t work here. This was drawn for b and w and looks just colored in and the blue is too gray and dark. Also,Fred looks silly with a stripe.

Both panels are almost reminiscent of the last Calvin and Hobbes cartoon—both see the beauty of the world, and the wondrous possibilities of life beyond. A warm and endearing end—if it was to be the last “Fred Basset” strip.
