For Better or For Worse by Lynn Johnston for September 24, 2008

Michael: People like girls better than they like boys... especially babies. Everybody likes Elizabeth, but nobody likes me. John: Michael, that's not true! Babies need more attention, that's all. You're big, now! You can take care of yourself! Michael: Dad? Would you teach me how to drive?

Reminds me of a Calvin and Hobbes joke: Calvin wants to use the garage, so he releases the handbrake and pushes the car out. The car rolls straight across the street and into a ravine. Calvin’s dad says “In the big scheme of things, it’s not so bad… In another ten years you’ll probably be wrecking my car!”

We could hardly wait to grow up and now wish I had all that energy I wasted then.

Commenting on yesterday’s strip: I think Lynn is doing an awesome job. I am a young mother and have a picture of my daughter covered in cereal after trying to feed herself. Yes, i miss the old strip, but her current line does not miss the charm and relevance of her twenty years experience with the Pattersons.

There were several in which Mr. B (the first rabbit) or Butterscotch (the second) were chewing on power cords. Here is one: http://www.fborfw.com/strip_fix/archives/000122.php

Mike is on to a pretty good idea. At a young age I was taught about road rules, why we stop at red lights and so forth. As soon as my feet could touch the pedals I was allowed to practice driving on dirt tracks my family owned. I was also shown how to properly handle a firearm when I was young; going hunting and target shooting often. I now handle both responsibly and safely.
