“I read in the newspapers they are going to have 30 minutes of intellectual stuff on television every week.” (Groucho Marx)

Jerry Coleman once said… “A day without newspapers is like walking around without your pants on.”

There is something about sitting at morning tea with one’s grandchild and reading together, that I should greatly miss were there not newspapers

Well…there are newspapers and then there is the Sacramento Bee.

Comics-wise, I love the papers because there’s just one comic after the other–no scrolling or clicking on links, no advertising (at least on the comics page–not to say that there’s NO advertsing).

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer, which was founded in 1863, is now up for sale by Hearst Corp. If it’s not sold in 60 days, they’re going to internet only or close down completely.

Newspapers are the best, most inexpesive media to track news, weather, sports, comics, movie listings, television listings, classified ads, obituaries, and store sales. I love the internet but we will all be for the worst when we no longer have newspapers avaialble.

This just in: my local newspaper will no longer give the local television listings. The end (of newspapers) is near!

Fenyugreek - are you saying there’s something wrong about walking around without your pants on?

montycantsin2 - I find the guest bathroom’s vanity an excellent place for all my old physics, chemistry and structural analysis textbooks. It looks impressive and nobody ever stays in there very long.

My brother and I used to race up the drive after exiting School Bus 3A to be the first to read the comics section of the paper. And we had the Pensacola News and the Pensacola Journal, one for the AM, one for the PM.

Today it’s the Pensacola News-Journal with much content from USA Today. I actually get most of my news from NorthEscambia.com and news.google.com but the PNJ still tends to give more depth — just after a day or two, sometimes a week.
