So, he will be delivering a sermon after all. I can’t wait!

Upton may be better than the real Rev, Peacegood

When I was growing up. The church in our small town would take a “vacation” Sunday once a year when everybody went on vacation. Trouble is, in so many churches, the idea caught on and continued through out the year.

A wonderfully heart-felt sermon will be delivered by The Imposter, the REAL reverend will show up just in time to hear it, and “the hills will be alive with the sound of” icky-sticky-sweet UPCHUCKING…….

Yet another Holy ending, to an unholy strip, read by a sinfully-lusting “congregation”, as usual.

I wonder what this strip would be like if were written in Egypt or Saudi Arabia….Upton would be reading the Koran, then climaxing with an epiphany….

Or in China…Upton reads buddhist teachings, becomes “one with himself”…

Or in a Scientology arc, Upton reads Dianetics, becomes an Operating Thetan, and sees Xenu…

comics could be ageless. look at Brenda Starr she still look young. Our local paper has Family Circus and the mom did at age 80. Yet the parents are still ageless as with the children.

I hope we’ll never see the end of Walt Wallet. He can fade off to the old comics home, fine. But actuall death? I hope not. From what I’ve heard GA has dealt with characters death before. But Walt is special. Hopefully there is a place reserved for him at the Old Comic Characters Home.

You’re right about Mr. Henry Allingham dying last night. He was a WWI vet, and until about a week ago, still very active, involved in anything he was invited to.

However, he was only 113. He was born on June 6, 1896, the only man living who was born before my Granddad. So now, if my grandfather were alive, he would be the oldest man on earth.

There are now only four validated living WWI veterans; one in Australia, one in England (Harry Patch); one from Canada (John Babcock, who lives in Washington State); and one from the US, Frank Buckles. Of course, it’s five if you count Walt.

I’d accept Walt’s demise, because I think it would be natural for Skeezix to become the patriarch of the Wallet clan. Walt could continue in flashbacks, stories and memories (that’s probably the best any of us can hope for!). Maybe one last cross-country Winnebago trip with his sons first.

I don’t know how much time has elapsed in Gasoline Alley since Slim hooked Upton’s car, but it seems much less than several days. Could it have been just “yesterday” at this point? It seems that way to me. Isn’t Ramona still wearing the same outfit?

I’m with you NotNorman, it would be nice to see a story center around one of the old main cast of characters. Even though I remember GA from when I was a kid, about the time we were still making moon shots, I’ve only been a steady reader since I rediscovered it here. Seeing a story about one of the old timers would be fun.

The “real” rev is a-walkin’ from ‘way outta town, after no one showed up to help him with his broken down vehicle - and The Good Lord just don’t DO that kind-a “getcher hands down & dirty” work, ‘specially on autos (since He gave each of us 2 good legs upon which to walk & horses, burros, jack@sses, etc to give us a nice ride).

The Real Rev will show up, all in good time - during the service, actually.

Walt will be 110 next year still not the oldest man alive who died recently at 115 so Walt has 5 more years to go.

The NY Times says there are 2 British WW1 survivors left.

Is it just a trick of perspective? Am I correct that in the 1st panel Slim is not looking Ramona Lisa in the eye? That his gaze is cast a little lower?
