Anyone who holds a gun like in the first panel deserves to be shot. Tracy has performed a “border shift” his pistol is now in his right hand.

THIS is a big moment for Dick Tracy and I don’t want to spoil it, but the Art is such as to really “tickle” my funny bone.

Panel 1) “I told you choose to ‘fill’, not to wiggle round and dislocate your upper ARM and funny bone !”

Panel 2) “Are you “Deafy Sweetfellow ?” All I asked was, if Macdonald’s sold Chinese KUNG POW in the Casino, not If they liked to smell GUN POWDER.”

Panel 3) “Good soccer shot there, did you score a GOAL, or are you now aiming for GAOL”

Actually, I believe that guy fully intended to shoot. Whether or not Tracy killed him first is another matter.

Or Tracy could just shoot himself.

Would make sense, story-wise.

And end this sad charade for all of us.

Tracy is a bad cop. He orchestrated this meeting just so he could kill these guys. He has murdered one of the henchmen and has yet to announce he is a policeman. They had Big Ace in the casino. They could have just surrounded the place until he came out. Wasn’t there sufficient evidence for a conviction? Does the, “don’t point it unless you intend to use it”, quote apply to policemen too, or should they still say, “stop or I’ll shoot.”

I don’t understand the dialogue in the second panel…

anyway….good strip. A little bit of action.

Tracy just made a suicide shot. When a baddie has a pistol aimed at you, no person in the world would shoot them in the gut. You shoot for the forehead and explode their brain. A guy shot in the gut has plenty of time to empty his pistol on you and probably time to reload in the process.

Pure and utter nonsense.

I’m not a shooting expert, but I doubt very much that aiming a pistol at a guy maybe five feet away requires you to close one eye. In fact, I doubt if you ever need to do that.

morrow, maybe Big Ace has “vulcan organ placement” (heart of vulcan is where humans have liver) in which that shot would indeed be fatal.

Wonder what the body count will be before the SWAT team gets there!!!

brine, I’m sure TMS allowed Locher only ONE shot (per shootout) No excessive violence allowed. So the body count will probably remain at one (as if I didn’t know), only a little theatrical grand standing tomorrow, and an applicable Locher pun.

Grok’s example puts it in perspective (and the referenced art is better). This is the execution of Tracy’s BIG MOMENT, his first shooting “kill” in over 20 years, it looked dull, dumbed out, void of feeling or excitment. Not any more attention grabbing than than obseving someone pick up a fork to eat Grok’s spaghetti, with ketchup showing some semblance of blood

Tracy really needs to quit chewing his fingernails.

If you look at the angle of entry on Tracy’s shot it appears he took it from a kneeling position. The goon was aiming head-high, so he would’ve missed even if he’d squeezed one off.

KEEN observation, whardin1960, leaving us with another yet unanswered question. It would appear that someone else other than “Mr. Clean” may have intended to shoot poor ole Tracy.

Before I forget to mention it–the “Matrix Pack” is GOD, friend Sydney. ;)

EMET, You have the best jibe of the day, with - “Mr. Clean and the Ammonia business”. It cracked me up ! That’s why I think “unintentionally”, Locher’s “efforts” to improve the strip have ironically turned it into a sort of ungoing trigger for “comic” comment. He should consider a weekly Cash Award, sort of in lieu of a “Royalty”, for the best crack of the week. They serve to keep things humming here ! Ivansan two days ago said, it was “only a comic”, how devastatingly accurate can our posters get ?

The third panel almost–not quite–takes me back to the days of Chester Gould’s kill shots, with the bullet entering on a straight line, then exiting the other side in a meandering path. Happy memories of simpler times.

Congratulations Jeff ! My information was that the Launch was tomorrow morning.

We can talk our heads off every day but what really matters is the POSITIVES that we achieve that are useful to many people.. Note use of word “positive”. Striving violently is important, but “victory” ultimately transcends that. Few recall or even wish to “remember” those that also ran. It’s unfair, but a dissapointing “reality”.

And “striving” is a bit MORE than the sort of propulsion gained by someone after hopping onto the step of a moving Tram Car. That’s like coasting on the back of another power

Howcum so much criticism? Even Chester Gould had the infamous Moon episodes and the Moon Maid that was eventually conveninetly killed off by a bomb blast perpetrated by a Radio Shack-type employee (before Radio Shack was invented.) Even Prince Valiant now has Cro-Magnons fighting a Godzilla at Camelot now although admittedly the art is still superb in Prince Valiant. Main thing is Dick Tracy is still around in a recognizable form for which I take off my hat to Mr. Locher.
