Let’s see now… The trailer is surrounded by “bad” guys and Ollie can’t get out without being shot down like the dog he is. Logic would dictate that all the “bad” guys have to do is starve “Daddy” out, then they can return to beating the poop out of him every night! Barring that, they can riddle the trailer with machine gun fire and turn Warbucks into a piece of Swiss cheese.

Fw these are TERRORISTS AND MOBSTERS yeah those are bad guys, they kill innocent people, kidnapping, extortion, and stealing. Now I believe that narcotics and prostitution when “regulated” properly (while disgusting and morally offending) are just like any other business providing goods and services. If you are stupid enough to do drugs in the first place then well let’s use these multibillion dollar industries taht we can’t stop anyway for taxes to get the hospitals and schools politicians always promise but never get around to because they’re too busy doing drugs and hanging out with hookers. Besides with all the anti-drug stuff it just makes it look cool to do, we should show what the life of junkies is really like then there wouldn’t be so many users. Don’t get me wrong I believe it is OK to take every murderer, not self-defense or justifiable, rapist, child molester, extortionist, thief (not those who steal feed starving family or self but those who don’t want to be a productive member of society) and throw them in a meat grinder OK I don’t really mean that a bullet to the brain is sufficient though maybe a less severe punishment for thieves. Warbucks is self made man a good American and a philanthropist, he also treats his employees well. I know in the real world he should probably go to the proper authorities instead of fighting them himself but that is part of the willing suspension of disbelief of fiction and well nobody cares about brand new characters who we probably will never see again. His captors are ruthless criminals, mobsters, murderers, people who profit by exploiting the innocent, he has never hurt anyone who did not have it coming. It’s a statement about how the justice system doesn’t do enough to fight criminals. Annie once said something like when crooks use pull and money to get off then the only way to get them punished is for honest men like Warbucks to use pull and money and gunmen too and beat them at their own game. He doesn’t want conflict he wants America safe he loves his country. But you’ve made it clear what you think of Warbucks and I won’t be able to change that so I leave you with this think of him as a lesser evil (no goody two shoes idealist can help as many as pragmatist and since when must greed and patriotism/altuism be mutually exclusive if the job gets done if the (more) wicked are punished if the starving get fed who cares?

On the plus side, a lot of those weapons were probably made by Warbucks’ munitions business to begin with, so at least he stands a good chance of being killed by a good ol’ Made in the USA bullet. (Well, more like Made in Mexico, but whatevs.)

We live safely because of strong hard men who stand watch.

As I recall, once Xaxos (sp?) was knocked overboard, Warbucks’ captors decided to sell Warbucks to the highest bidder. It doesn’t seem likely that this group made the highest bid. And Warbucks could have bid on himself.

I assumed this was Xaxos’ group. A pretty stupid way to treat the cash cow you’re trying to auction off, but then baddies never act too smart in this kind of story.

a better known version of the quote aerwalt referenced is: “People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.” – George Orwell

Would Eastwood ever have played a credible Warbucks? Not everyone looks good without hair.
