Nobody’s “OK with child-molesting priests”.
The comment is inappropriate for this venue.
A blanket condemnation like yours is unfair to the 95%of men of the cloth who would not even think of doing such things. Yes, there are bad men. No, they are not all priests. No, not all priests are bad.
Since the Episcopal church has embraced gay clergy, I would be more worried as an altar boy there. (The worldwide Anglican church != Episcopal, especially since 2006.)
The male sex drive is not expected to diminish or cease for the discipline of celibacy. You are supposed to master it, and redirect the “energy” to other things. Kind of like fasting. The problem for Catholics is that too many men get screwed up sexually, then hope that becoming a priest will “fix” them. It doesn’t - as you note.
One can thus state Joe (Allen Doty) that the Anglican communion was always a mess from the get-go due to how it was formed (because “Crazy Hank” was ticked-off that he couldn’t get annulment from Pope).
Most of the comments today have very little to do with the story. Instead today we’re treated vague doctrine and pedastry. Who ever said the pastor in GA is Anglican? He has never been vested on the pulpit in anything other than for choir. This could be numerous Prod sects.
In real life, Upton would be inspired to become an itinerant preacher and eventually get himself a stadium-sized church with TV cameras around his pulpit, and demand his congregation give tribute lest the deity call him home.

Must be Episcopalian. Gonna be tough to pass himself off as a married Catholic priest.

I see some irony in this strip, because a lot of UPTON’s are out there in the pulpit evey sunday.

Episcopaleans are called priests and go by “Father” and dress pretty much the same as a Catholic priest but they can marry.
I’m so looking forward to Upton’s sermon!

marktrail: yes, I’ve been wondring for a while now…I really doubt he’s still waiting for Slim. Do you think he might have run into Rufus and Joel?

Somehow I sense a Saul Of Tarsus on the road to Damascus conversion type of moment coming for Upton…..

YEAH. What happened to the real preacher? There’s either an imminent plot twist, or just lazy writing, behind the curtains here…

…wow! I was at work all day, and it looks like the censors were taxed. Apparently I either missed a lot, or not much at all.
