I never thought a kid needed permission to spend his own birthday money. Making an unwise purchase is how kids learn to manage money better the next time around.

Too expensive, not a good reason. If he regrets paying that much, he’ll make a better decision next time.Too violent or graphic and I’d agree that he needed approval.

It is my right as a parent to control what my children bring into my house. End of story. This is not open to debate. Had my children bought something that I did not approve of I would simply remove the offending item. If it is an acceptable item I don’t care how much they spent on it. It is their money. And when it is gone, it is gone. A lesson more people, especially politicians, need to learn.
