Alex: Okay, Drew and I are incredibly close, so this makes no sense... but to be honest, I was kind of glad to see her leave. Sometimes when we get together, all the insecurity comes tumbling out, and someone starts to feel really, really bad about herself. Toggle: But... why? Drew got so much g-g-going for her! Man: Yeah, I hear she's a total babe.

Leo is the best.

I love the fact that it never even occurs to him that she might be the one who feels insecure.

…and that Alex can’t comprehend that he feels that way about her

dataweaver: don’t be so sure Leo doesn’t know exactly what’s going on between Alex and Drew. He’s just smart enough to know the right thing to say…

Are these guys the sweetest, or what? And you have to give Alex credit for knowing she has insecurity issues.

Don’t let the stuttering fool you – Leo didn’t go to MIT, but he’s generally a step or two ahead of Alex in their relationship. Continued feigned ignorance carries the day for him, probably all week long.

Thou blind fool, Love, what doest thou to mine eyes / That they behold, and see not what they see? / They know what beauty is, see where it lies, / Yet what the best is take the worst to be. —Shakespeare, sonnet 137 (the next two lines are too raunchy to quote)

@DirtyDragon et al., remember the other day when Leo commented to the effect that Sherm tolerated Alex being around even tho Sherm can’t tolerate really hot women. Alex wasn’t there to need reassurance. Leo genuinely sees Alex as really hot and amazing, and I don’t think he fully grasps her insecurity.

“[Thou art] already dead. stabbed with a white wench’s black eye, run through the ear with a love song, the very pin of [thy] heart cleft with the blind bow-boy’s butt shaft.”
Shakespeare was famous for romantic imagery. Poor Leo there’s not much left with one eye and all.

Thanks for the correction, FriscoLou. Love’s Labor’s Lost is the right Shakespearean connection here. “The tongues of mocking wenches are as keen / As is the razor’s edge invisible.”
