Gas $4 a gallon, Oil at over $16. My total traveling is down to 6,000 miles a year. If I don’t HAVE to travel, I don’t. They ain’t going to get rich off me!

Simplistic answer. What is any business open for, including Gasoline Alley Garage? To make money. So why do we condemn an industry whose NET profit margin is around 1% (which is really crappy) and most of that is paid out in dividends to shareholders (like Walt)? The problem here is OPEC (They set the crude prices), oil speculators (stock market traders who run the price of crude futures through the roof) and knee-jerk reactionaries who are too quick to blame the retailer.

Jan… I agree with you…. GA Garage is not the issue. The Oil Companies and OPEC and the speculators are the problem. Not the gas station owner (unless they are owned by the oil companies).

Not to change the subject, but I’m wishing the writing on this strip were a little crisper. Scancarelli is an outstanding artist, but the last continuity didn’t really seem to go anywhere, and I don’t recall anyone ever explaining how it was Boog got out of his deathtrap.

Those who choose to make the oil companies the boogey man won’t change their mind from anything I have to say. What I wish they would do is check out some unbiased reports instead of the pap they are being fed by the liberal left.
