Ulysses S Grant (1822-1885), the 18th president of the United States- smoked 20 cigars a day! A Skye terrier named Greyfriars Bobby spent 14 years mourning over the grave of his owner, John Gray of Edinburgh, Scotland, and tell his own death in 1872! Some species of the Tiger beetle- the fastest running insects on the planet-move so quickly that their eyes and brain are unable to process vision and sink with their movement!

I wonder how Grant got cancer!“Where there’s smoke, there’s fire!”…cigar, anyone?

His cancer or the pain of his cancer? If his cancer was alleviated that would be pretty impressive.

According to what i’ve heard somebody fed the dog, and took care of him.Side note, I have heard of a similar story from China or Japan.

Similar dog story at Great Falls, Montana. As I recall, his grave was visible from the Western Star. (1960s)

Just how fast can that bug run? How do you know what goes on inside its head?

After his presidency Grant was left with huge debts. He wrote his biography while slowly dieing from throat cancer. He managed to get them done in time and Mark Twain published them. Grant’s biography was a huge seller and he was able to die without leaving his family penniless.

Does anyone remember that Walt Disney made a movie about little Bobby in the early sixties? It goes to show that a dog’s love is never-ending. If only humans had that kind of love!

No, he ate… he just went back every day for the next ten years until he died. The dog’s name was Hachiko, and he was an akita inu. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hachik%C5%8D
