Too bad they can’t get that industrial strength disintegrator that Sparkplug helped create. That thing would definitely take care of the rocket with extra power to decimate the scaffolding as well.

I thought the disintegrator only worked on organics?

I’m amused to note that Apex is a company making plastic models. Of ICBMs: http://www.realspacemodels.com/html/r7icbmpg.html Most modern ICBMs are solid fueled. That’s likely true of the one on the pad; it does not seem to have a fueling facility nearby capable of storing and pumping supercooled hydrogen and oxygen. So, it will be a little tricker to kill from a distance. A lucky shot through the vessel walls might do it (the rocket’s skin is actually quite thin), but a liquid-fueled rocket would be more delicate. A trick shot into the satellite itself, up in the payload compartment, would have to be lucky indeed. The spacecraft is protected by a fairing so that you can’t see exactly what you’re shooting at, and a bullet might hit the bird without necessarily putting it completely out of action. We shall see. But Philomena does seem to me to be rather overconfident at this point. I wonder if Holly and Walter’s lady Dottie know each other. It doesn’t seem likely; Dottie is/was employed by the paper, and Holly did not seem to be familiar with Jacob Jackrabbit. But Endtown’s a small town indeed, and her regular customers would include a broad range of folks. =|====/ Level Head

Fourth panel: I like the way she thinks—and I REALLY wonder what she’s got planned.

Flask is starting to sound like Hannibal Smith. The TWC top 200’s is so near. 15 votes will comfortable break the barrier today, as 2.0 is now at 303 and the Original is at 341. Go topwebcomics.com, scroll to bottom and type Endtown in the search box. Let’s get the best post-apocalytic comic to the next level in the rankings. Aaron deserves the applause.

Love her or hate her, you’ve gotta admit, Flask is good at what she does.

And my prediction is that next week Wally and Holly will be sent topside to destroy the missle.

What I consider interesting is that Blackie considers “NOW” to be enough time to be satisfying. 2 days to pick a support group, gather rations, prepare a weapon, develop an attack plan, AND cover the distance on foot to get into place for the assault. Either that or she’s being sarcastic again.

@ William Graham -I saw on your page that you commented on Pibgorn. How did you do that? I don’t see any comments on Pibgorn or 9 Chickweed Lane either.

Not to mention, the mission to destroy the rocket will likely be a suicide mission. This comic just gets better and better.

Too bad it’s an Apex and not an Acme. Acme could be counted on to self destruct in a highly exciting fashion!

No boom today. Boom tomorrow. Always a boom tomorrow.

♫ Ivanova’s boom delay, Ivanova’s boom delay, there’ll be no boom today, it’ll be some other day… ♫

Guess who Flask reminds me of? Be afraid. Be very afraid.

As for organics in the rocket, if the Topsiders are true to form, it’ll have someone’s brain in there to guide it. And now Flask doesn’t have to worry that it might be Petey’s.

    She was being sarcastic yesterday…

Two days doesn’t seem like much time to me either, but consider if it was 2 hours!Actually, if it isn’t fully assembled, the topsiders will still need to do final checks, and weather needs to be considered as well, so they probably have a larger window. Better safe than sorry, though.

For the benefit of newcomers (welcome!) and those not certain whether or not I still have books to sell, here’s the pitch: The Endtown mini-comic that I produced for Comicpalooza 2011 is now available to YOU for the offensively low price of $2.50 (price includes s&h, international add $1 for each copy ordered ). Besides sporting a snazzy full color cover (http://tinyurl.com/3uytdhy), it contains an all-new 22 page story that is available nowhere else. And just because I feel like doing it, I’ll sign and personalize (if desired) each and every copy I mail out. Simply pay via PayPal using my email address, aaronneathery@gmail.com, and be sure to include your mailing address. If you can’t pay with PayPal, email me for my snailmail. And, just so you know, I’m completely open to donations. The cat and mouse that live in my head will thank you. :-)
